The four-part Marvel Animation event follows survivors after the Avengers fall to a zombie plague. It premiered on Disney+ on September 24, 2025.
What the Marvel Zombies trailer shows
Marvel Entertainment released its official trailer on September 2, 2025. It presents a dystopian Marvel world in which familiar heroes are part of the danger, framing the premise with the question, “Who will save us from our heroes?” The trailer also includes imagery of an undead Thanos. That image establishes his presence in the promotional footage, but Disney’s accompanying description does not specify when the moment occurs, what Thanos’s role is, or what happens in any confrontation.

How it connects to What If…?
Marvel Zombies expands the dystopian world first seen in the zombie episode of What If…? (2021–2024), but it does not directly continue that episode’s season-one cliffhanger. Disney describes the series as a standalone adventure within a larger story world.
