When did The Amazing Race Season 38 premiere?
The Season 38 premiere, titled “Two Worlds Colliding,” aired Thursday, September 25, 2025. CBS treated the premiere as an extended broadcast, but its published listings described slightly different local start and end times: one listing gave a 9:00–10:30 p.m. ET/PT window, while another described the block as 9:30–11:00 p.m. ET/PT. For that reason, the date is more reliable than a single nationwide premiere-time claim. CBS and Paramount’s Season 38 announcement confirms the scheduling change.

What was Season 38 about?
Season 38 was a crossover between The Amazing Race and Big Brother. Every team included at least one former Big Brother houseguest, but the returning reality-TV players did not necessarily race with their former allies. They competed alongside family members, partners, or close friends, creating a different kind of pressure from the alliance-based strategy of the Big Brother house.
The result was a season built around relationships as much as navigation, physical tasks, and decision-making. Contestants had to manage unfamiliar cities and race mechanics while working with someone whose habits, competitiveness, and tolerance for stress they already knew well.

Where was Season 38 filmed?
The race began in Europe, crossed Central, Southern, and Western Europe, and finished in the United States. It was not a literal worldwide route: the competitive travel was concentrated in Europe before the final teams returned to New York City.
Season 38 route by country and city
- Amsterdam, Netherlands: The opening leg began in and around Amsterdam. Before the starting line, teams faced an extra task involving an Express Pass and a Hazard consequence for the team that finished last.
- Prague and the Czech Republic: The second episode included a Roadblock at Prague’s Žižkov Television Tower, where a contestant had to deal with a narrow plank high above the city. The following episode continued in the Czech Republic.
- Budapest, Hungary: The fourth episode used the city’s connection to Harry Houdini as part of its theme. Challenges included a Fast Forward and a horse-drawn-carriage task.
- Croatia: Episodes five and six remained in Croatia and featured a double U-Turn along with additional country-specific challenges.
- Romania: The seventh and eighth episodes included a skydive from approximately 13,000 feet and racing in Bucharest.
- Athens, Greece: Episode nine followed a live double U-Turn and sent teams through the Greek capital.
- Milan, Italy: The Italian leg introduced a major setback and exposed teams to the risk of heat exhaustion.
- Paris, France: The penultimate leg used landmarks and venues including the Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower.
- New York City, United States: The final three teams returned to the U.S. for the finale, which included a rappel down the Empire State Building.
CBS’s episode listings are the best source for the individual episode locations and challenge settings. A route summary from Parade groups the season’s journey as Amsterdam, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Italy, France, and the United States.
What twists did Season 38 introduce?
The pre-starting-line task
Season 38 opened with a task before the conventional starting line. The first team to complete it received two Express Passes: one for itself and one to give to another team. The team that finished last received a Hazard that affected its opening-leg race.
Rank #2
This changed the strategic balance before the main leg had even begun. The winning team had immediate protection and the power to influence another team’s prospects, while the last-place team started under an imposed disadvantage.

Other format devices
The season also used the Driver’s Seat twist, a standard double U-Turn, a live double U-Turn, and a Fast Forward. These devices gave teams more opportunities to control who faced additional work or who could bypass part of a leg, making the season’s social relationships especially important.
Who won The Amazing Race Season 38?
Jas and Jag Bains won Season 38. The brothers finished first on seven legs, tying the record for the most consecutive first-place finishes, according to Parade’s season coverage. Jag also became the first person to win both Big Brother and The Amazing Race.
The finale, “One Million Cookies,” brought the final three teams from Paris to New York City. Its tasks included the Empire State Building rappel, giving the season a distinctly New York conclusion after its long European route.
