Custom Android mascot figures painted, climbed scaffolding, assembled a giant Android sign and washed windows from a moving platform. Nearby, visitors could try Samsung’s Galaxy XR and see Google’s still-unfinished monocular Android XR glasses prototype.
The installation and demonstrations were documented on March 2, 2026, in a 9to5Google gallery and hands-on report. The Google setup stood between Halls 2 and 3 at Barcelona’s Fira convention center—useful event history, but not a current visitor guide now that MWC 2026 has ended.
Android Avenue was a construction-site tableau
Android Avenue was an event installation and brand experience, not a separate Android product or feature. Google spread small, custom Android display figures through a worksite-themed scene arranged around a large Android logo.
The construction motif can be read as a playful visual metaphor for building an ecosystem, but Google’s published material does not establish that as an official explanation. What the display clearly delivered was a dense, highly staged photo opportunity.

A gallery in visual chapters
The main construction scene
Wide views showed the scale of the installation and the number of figures working around the oversized Android sign. Some mascots appeared to be assembling the sign itself, turning the logo into the centerpiece of the scene.
Painters, builders and scaffold climbers
Close-ups focused on figures holding painting and building tools, standing on scaffolding and working at different heights. Their miniature poses, props and expressions supplied the charm; these were staged mascot figures, not autonomous humanoid robots.
The moving window washers
One of the most memorable details was a pair of window-washing figures on a motorized platform. That motion gave the installation a little mechanical life instead of leaving every element static. The source describes the platform as motorized, but does not identify the mascots themselves as robots or animatronics.

Androids outside the central set
The gallery also showed Android figures in Google’s Gemini video-generation area and around the Android XR demonstrations. Those appearances extended the construction-crew visual language into the surrounding branded zones rather than confining it to one set.
Small souvenirs
Android pins were reportedly available around the show. They were promotional collectibles associated with the event, not evidence of a retail Android-figure line.
What visitors saw in Android XR
Google’s XR area brought together two very different categories of hardware: Samsung’s commercially released Galaxy XR headset and Google’s experimental AI glasses. Treating them as the same product would blur the most important distinction in the demonstration.

Samsung Galaxy XR
Galaxy XR is a headset built on Android XR and integrated with Google Gemini. Samsung’s U.S. purchase page lists the 256GB Wi‑Fi model at $1,799.99 as checked on August 18, 2026: Samsung’s official buying page. Samsung says the headset supports eye, hand and voice interaction and describes its Android XR and Gemini features on its product information page.
Samsung announced U.S. availability beginning October 21, 2025, in its launch announcement. Controllers, a travel case and prescription-lens options are listed separately in Samsung’s accessories information. Galaxy XR is the purchasable device in this story’s Android XR context, but it is a substantial headset—not the lightweight glasses Google showed as a prototype.

Google’s monocular Android XR glasses prototype
Google demonstrated glasses with a display in one eye, a design known as monocular. The reporter also experienced touchpad controls, built-in speakers, Google-service integration and Gemini support. The account described the interface as simple and intuitive, the touchpad as responsive and the speakers as good for prototype hardware.

The one-eye display required an adjustment: only one eye received the visual information, so the experience was less immediately natural than a binocular XR view. The glasses also felt somewhat snug on the reporter’s face. These are one person’s hands-on impressions, not laboratory measurements or evidence of all-day comfort.

In other words, the glasses were not a confirmed “Google Glass 2,” and the MWC demonstration does not support claims that they would launch in 2026. They were a prototype shown by Google, with final hardware and commercial plans left unstated in the event report.
Why the display and demo worked together
Android Avenue supplied the visual hook: tiny green mascots performing recognizable jobs, including the moving window-washing routine. The XR area supplied the forward-looking contrast, moving from a playful physical installation to software-assisted spatial computing and AI glasses. The combination made Google’s MWC presence feel like both a brand gallery and a snapshot of where Android XR was heading.
For readers who want to try the ecosystem now, Samsung’s Galaxy XR is the verified retail option. Google’s monocular glasses remained prototype-only in this coverage, with no responsible purchase or preorder route attached to them.
