If you are looking for Christmas films on Disney+ in December 2026, start with the classics rather than relying on the service’s seasonal homepage row. Disney’s holiday collection can change, and availability varies by country, so the list below is best treated as a current US Disney+ availability check—not a guarantee for the entire month.
The ranking favors films with lasting appeal, memorable performances, strong seasonal atmosphere and enough substance to reward another viewing. It includes family comedies, animated favorites, darker fantasy and newer Disney+ originals. All 20 titles were listed on Disney+ title pages or in Disney’s official holiday material when checked on August 9, 2026.

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol
The best all-round choice is still the Muppets’ musical version of Dickens. Michael Caine plays Scrooge straight, while Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and the rest of the cast turn the familiar story into something funny, warm and surprisingly affecting. The songs do not merely decorate the plot; they give the film its emotional structure.

Disney+ has also carried an extended version through the title’s available options or extras, so check which version is selected before watching. This is the ideal film for a mixed-age audience that wants a real Christmas story rather than just seasonal branding.
2. Home Alone
Chris Columbus’s 1990 comedy remains the essential Disney+ Christmas rewatch. Kevin McCallister is accidentally left behind when his family travels for the holidays, then turns his suburban house into an elaborate obstacle course for two burglars. Macaulay Culkin’s performance gives the high-concept slapstick a surprisingly tender center, especially in Kevin’s relationship with the lonely neighbor Marley.
The violence is cartoonish but frequent, so younger children may need guidance. For older children and adults, the combination of icy Chicago streets, memorable music and escalating traps is almost impossible to resist.
3. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
Jack Skellington’s attempt to take over Christmas produces a stop-motion fantasy unlike anything else on this list. It is technically a Halloween-and-Christmas hybrid, but its snow, carols, gift-giving and Christmas Town imagery make it a December staple. Danny Elfman’s score supplies much of the film’s identity, from “What’s This?” to the mournful “Jack’s Lament.”

The separate sing-along listing is an alternate presentation, not a second movie.
4. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
The sequel sends Kevin to Manhattan, where he again encounters Harry and Marv and again finds himself defending a building with improvised traps. It repeats the first film’s formula, but the Plaza Hotel, Central Park and toy-store setting give it a larger Christmas postcard quality. The result is less intimate than Home Alone, but its scale and comic set pieces make it a strong second choice.
5. The Santa Clause
Tim Allen plays Scott Calvin, an ordinary father who becomes Santa after an accident on Christmas Eve. The film works because it treats the premise as both a comic inconvenience and a genuine transformation. Scott’s changing body, strained family relationships and growing responsibilities provide more than a succession of North Pole jokes.

It is rated PG and is one of Disney+’s most dependable family Christmas films. The two sequels are also available in the current holiday selection, but the original is the strongest entry.
6. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
This feature-length anthology brings together three separate stories involving Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and their families. Its short-story structure makes it particularly useful for younger viewers or for a family that does not want to commit to a two-hour film. The tone is gentle, uncomplicated and built around generosity, second chances and family loyalty.
Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas is a separate follow-up, not a collection of individual episodes from the first film.
7. Disney’s A Christmas Carol
Robert Zemeckis’s 2009 motion-capture adaptation gives Dickens a colder, more spectral treatment than the Muppet version. Jim Carrey plays several roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge, and the film leans into ghosts, nightmarish imagery and fast-moving supernatural sequences.
It is a good choice for viewers who want the classic story without a purely cozy tone. Search for the full title, Disney’s A Christmas Carol, to distinguish it from other adaptations.
8. Godmothered
This Disney+ original follows an inexperienced fairy godmother who discovers that the adult woman she intends to help no longer believes in traditional happily-ever-after endings. The comedy comes from the clash between magical rules and modern life, while the story gradually shifts toward a broader idea of happiness and family.
It is a breezy PG film for viewers who want a Christmas fantasy without Santa, burglars or a direct retelling of Dickens.

9. Noelle
Anna Kendrick stars as Santa’s daughter, who must step into action when her brother disappears just before Christmas. The film combines a North Pole setup with a fish-out-of-water story in the real world. It is bright, uncomplicated and especially suitable for family viewing when the goal is cheerful rather than challenging.
10. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
This direct-to-video animated sequel returns to Belle and the Beast during the Christmas season. It is not the 1991 theatrical Beauty and the Beast; it is a separate Christmas story set around the couple’s still-developing relationship. The film is most appealing to viewers who want familiar characters, musical numbers and a dose of Disney animation nostalgia.
11. Dashing Through the Snow
This 2023 adventure follows a social worker and his daughter through a chaotic Christmas Eve involving a mysterious man in a red suit. It is a contemporary, live-action holiday film with a father-daughter relationship at its center and enough action to keep it moving.
12. The Naughty Nine
In this 2023 Christmas fantasy comedy, a group of children who believe they have been placed on Santa’s naughty list plan a heist at the North Pole. The setup gives the film a clear mission, a young ensemble and a playful alternative to the usual Christmas rescue plot. It is rated TV-G and is aimed primarily at children and families.
13. Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas
The follow-up to Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas uses several connected animated stories to explore holiday jealousy, impatience and generosity. It is not as strong or as universally remembered as the first anthology, but it remains a useful pick for younger viewers who enjoy the Disney character lineup.
14. Home Sweet Home Alone
This 2021 revival updates the basic premise with a new child left to defend a house from supposed intruders. It does not replace the original, but it offers a modern setting and a new cast for families who have already exhausted Kevin’s two adventures. The film is rated PG and is best approached as a lighter franchise variation rather than a direct competitor to the 1990 classic.

15. Home Alone 3
Home Alone 3 changes the central character and story, following a boy who uses household ingenuity against criminals seeking a valuable device. It has the same broad “child builds traps” architecture but no Macaulay Culkin, Kevin McCallister or direct continuation of the first two films. That makes it a reasonable standalone children’s caper, though a weaker Christmas classic.

16. The Santa Clause 2
Scott Calvin returns as Santa and faces a new set of North Pole problems, including pressure to find a Mrs. Claus and the emergence of a troublesome second Santa figure. The sequel expands the mythology and keeps the comic tone, although it lacks the original’s balance between family drama and fantasy.
17. A Very Jonas Christmas Movie
This 2025 Disney+ feature follows Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas as they try to reach home before Christmas while a series of setbacks gets in the way. It is a scripted holiday movie rather than a concert special, making it a natural choice for Jonas Brothers fans who want music and celebrity comedy in a feature-length format.
18. Home Alone: The Holiday Heist
This later entry moves the franchise to a new family and a new child-protects-the-house scenario. It has the expected traps and holiday setting, but its made-for-TV sensibility puts it well below the first two films. It may still work for children who want more of the formula after the better-known movies are finished.

Home Alone 4 brings Kevin McCallister back with a different cast and a television-movie approach. It is included for completeness because Disney+ lists it as its own title, but it should not be confused with a continuation of the original films’ production style or cast. Franchise completists can make room for it; most viewers should start elsewhere.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.20. The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause
The third Santa Clause film adds Jack Frost to the North Pole conflict and pushes the series toward broader fantasy comedy. It is the least disciplined of the trilogy, but younger viewers who enjoy the world-building and larger cast may find it entertaining. Watch the first film before this one if you want the character arc to make sense.
How to find these Christmas movies on Disney+
- Open Disney+ and select the correct profile.
- Choose Search and enter the movie’s title. On a web browser, the navigation bar is at the top; on a TV-connected device it is on the left; on mobile it is at the bottom.
- If search does not return a result, try Movies and then the seasonal holiday collection.
- Check the title page rather than assuming that a trailer, sing-along version or short special is the feature film you wanted.
Why a movie may not appear
A missing title is not always evidence that it has left Disney+. First check the profile settings. Junior Mode and content-rating limits can hide films. In the US, Disney says access to unrated content requires the profile rating to be set to TV-MA, which can affect whether some titles appear.
Location is another factor. Disney says availability differs by country or region and can change while traveling. Error Code 73 may indicate that a title is unavailable in the current region or that Disney+ has detected a VPN or IP anonymizer. Turn off the VPN, confirm the account’s region and search again.

FAQ
Will all 20 movies definitely be on Disney+ in December 2026?
No. This is a US catalog check made on August 9, 2026. Disney can change its library, seasonal collections and regional availability, so recheck each title shortly before watching in December.
Which Christmas movie on Disney+ is best for the whole family?
The Muppet Christmas Carol is the strongest all-round choice. It has familiar Dickensian themes, comedy, songs and enough emotional depth for adults, while the Muppets make it accessible to children.
Are all six Home Alone movies Macaulay Culkin films?
No. Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister in the first two films only. Home Alone 3, Home Alone 4, Home Alone: The Holiday Heist and Home Sweet Home Alone use different stories, casts or versions of the premise.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

The title may be unavailable in your country, hidden by profile controls, restricted by Junior Mode or tied to Hulu access. A VPN can also trigger Disney+ Error Code 73. Check the profile rating, turn off any VPN and verify your regional catalog.
The Bottom Line
For one Christmas movie, choose The Muppet Christmas Carol. For a family comedy, choose Home Alone; for animation, choose The Nightmare Before Christmas; and for a newer Disney+ original, try Godmothered or The Naughty Nine. Treat the list as a starting point, not a December 2026 availability guarantee, and confirm the title in your own regional Disney+ library before planning a movie night.
