Tetris Forever is a playable history of the series, not a standalone film: it brings together more than 15 classic games, the new Tetris Time Warp experience and an embedded documentary. Digital Eclipse says the documentary footage runs for over 90 minutes; the official Tetris product page describes it as more than an hour.
What is included in Tetris Forever?
Digital Eclipse presents Tetris Forever as a Gold Master Series release built around playable games and historical material. The collection contains more than 15 classic Tetris games, alongside Tetris Time Warp, a new experience that lets up to four players move between eras in real time, with different graphics and play mechanics.
The named games illustrate how varied the collection is. It includes the multiplayer cult favorite Tetris Battle Gaiden, Super Bombliss, and a recreation of the first Tetris version, originally made for the Electronika 60 computer. The available product descriptions do not provide a complete version-by-version roster, so those examples should not be mistaken for an exhaustive list.
The playable lineup also expanded after release. In an update dated December 20, 2024, Digital Eclipse announced that Welltris, Alexey Pajitnov’s follow-up to Tetris, had been added. The game combines familiar two-dimensional play with a board viewed from above, asking players to think about four sides rather than a single flat well. Is the documentary included?
Yes. The footage is included in the game rather than established as a separate documentary release. Digital Eclipse describes it as over 90 minutes of new documentary footage; the official Tetris product page calls the material more than an hour of documentary featurettes. Neither description gives a single exact runtime.
The documentary focuses on the lifelong friendship and creative partnership between Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov and Henk Rogers, founder of The Tetris Company. Their story provides historical context for the games, while the collection itself lets players try versions from different points in the series’ history.

Where can you play it, and is there a physical edition?
Digital Eclipse lists Tetris Forever for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The developer says it is available in both physical and digital formats. For a physical edition of Tetris Forever for Nintendo Switch, check the platform and edition on the specific retailer listing; availability and price can vary.
Release dates differ between official listings, so they are best understood as platform- or page-specific rather than one universal date. Steam lists the PC release date as November 12, 2024, while the Tetris product page gives November 28, 2024. What did the December 2024 update change?
The December 20, 2024 developer update is useful for understanding what was added and adjusted at that time, but it does not establish the behavior of the latest build.
- Welltris: Added to the playable games list.
- Control remapping: The update said players could remap controls in Tetris Time Warp and the MS-DOS, Electronika 60 and Apple II games on all platforms. It also noted remapping for all four players in Tetris Time Warp.
- Switch audio: Digital Eclipse reported fixing audio stuttering affecting some games on Nintendo Switch by disabling Rewind in certain games. The post said the team might investigate restoring Rewind later; it does not confirm whether that happened.
- Future work: The post mentioned a larger Tetris Time Warp update and further work on saved-game functionality as plans for early 2025. Those plans are not confirmation that the work was completed.

Which edition should you choose?
The main choice is platform and format: play digitally on one of the listed systems, or look for a physical copy for a supported console. The collection includes single-player play, and the Steam listing also identifies shared/split-screen features; that Steam-specific listing does not establish that every platform has identical options. Check the listing for the system and edition you intend to use.
