The Tetris Company says more than 520 million copies of Tetris have been sold worldwide. The figure appears in its June 5, 2026 announcement for World Tetris Day, which is observed June 6. The release does not explain how sales are counted or say the total has been independently audited.
What the 520 million figure means
The June 5, 2026 press release from The Tetris Company describes the milestone as “more than 520 million copies” sold worldwide. It does not define “copies,” explain whether the count combines distinct versions and platform releases, or disclose an audit or counting methodology. The figure should therefore be understood as the company’s reported sales total, not an independently verified count. The Tetris Company’s 2026 announcement is the primary source for the claim.
The company also reported over 520 million units in its 2024 and 2025 World Tetris Day announcements. Those earlier statements show the figure has been repeated in company communications; they are not independent confirmation of it. 2025 announcement · 2024 announcement
When is World Tetris Day?
World Tetris Day is June 6. The company’s 2026 release was dated June 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada—one day before the observance—so the announcement date and the celebration date are distinct.

How the company describes Tetris today
The 2026 release says Tetris was created in 1984 and is available on more than 50 platforms. It also describes a broad licensed ecosystem, with activity ranging from mobile events and fan competition to partnerships and new ways to play. These are statements from the company, rather than independently measured reach figures.
Examples in the announcement include a Classic Tetris World Championship event in Pasadena, a mobile event connected with rainforest protection, and Tetris through AirConsole in Škoda vehicles in Europe. The company separately says that “Billions of Tetris games are played online every year,” but provides no method or more precise count for that broad claim.

For documentary viewers, the release also points to Blue Scuti: Tetris Crasher, about competitive Tetris player Blue Scuti. The company said it was streaming on Amazon Prime Video when the announcement was made on June 5, 2026; streaming catalogs vary by region and change over time, so that statement does not establish current availability everywhere.
