A black Tesla Cybertruck appeared at anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles on June 8, 2025, carrying anti-ICE and ACAB messages, a Mexican flag, and a Spanish slogan meaning “in the city of workers.” The word “crashes” in the original framing is figurative: reports describe the truck arriving at a protest intersection, not a traffic collision. The messages looked like graffiti, but a later report said they were removable vinyl.
What happened at the Los Angeles protest?
Footage recorded on Sunday, June 8, 2025, shows the black Cybertruck at the intersection of North Los Angeles Street and 1st Street. Storyful’s listing describes it rolling up to the intersection with a Mexican flag and anti-ICE and “city of workers” text; it credits the footage to Luke Chueh via Storyful. Storyful’s listing supplies the date and location.

Gizmodo’s June 10 account describes the truck displaying anti-ICE and ACAB wording alongside the Spanish phrase “en la ciudad de los trabajadores,” or “in the city of workers.” It also says the vehicle was seen making maneuvers at an intersection near protesters. In the footage and early descriptions, the markings appeared painted or graffiti-like.
Were the messages graffiti or a wrap?
Gizmodo reported that the markings were removable vinyl, not permanent damage to the Cybertruck. The report identified the Instagram account posting close-up footage as belonging to Stars in the Ceiling, a Los Angeles auto-customization shop. It did not identify a vinyl brand, product, or supplier.

Stars in the Ceiling’s Instagram post, as reproduced by Gizmodo, described the truck’s use as “a peaceful protest and an act of nonviolence.” The shop’s statement continued: “2025 has been a crazy year! It’s time to wrap this Cybertruck with another color!” The statement is attributed to the business account, not to a named individual.
What was the truck meant to say?
The visual contrast was striking: a Tesla Cybertruck, associated in the coverage with Elon Musk and his political positions, carried an anti-ICE message at demonstrations against immigration enforcement and Trump administration policy. That juxtaposition made the truck an easily shared image and invited different interpretations, including sincere protest, political provocation, or promotion of the customization shop.

Those interpretations should not be mistaken for established motive. The shop called the vehicle’s use a peaceful protest, while Gizmodo raised the possibility that the appearance could also promote the business. The available reporting does not establish the driver’s full intent, show that the shop’s primary motive was advertising, or prove that the appearance was a paid promotional stunt.
