Why did a 2025 headline say season 4 would be announced shortly?
On January 20, 2025, 9to5Mac reported on a video from Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate. Mohammed said he could not identify the filming he was about to do and asked people not to speculate. The video included a Ted Lasso “Believe” sign and the hashtag #TedLasso, prompting interest in a possible return.
“I cannot say what that filming is, but it will be announced shortly. In the meantime, I would really appreciate if people didn’t speculate as to what they think it might be.”
The quote was Mohammed’s teaser as reproduced by 9to5Mac; it was not an official announcement from Apple. 9to5Mac’s January 20, 2025 report is the source of the original headline.

When did Apple confirm season 4, and what is it about?
Apple announced season 4 on January 28, 2026, saying the season was in production. Season 4 premiered August 5, 2026. MacRumors reported from Apple’s premiere-date announcement that episodes were scheduled weekly on Wednesdays through October 7, 2026; that schedule has now concluded. MacRumors reported the date and weekly schedule on April 28, 2026.

Is Ted Lasso season 5 confirmed?
No season 5 order was reported as of July 22, 2026. TV Insider reported that Sudeikis envisioned a new three-season phase and that the writers’ room planned to revisit season 5 stories in late August. Those details describe a proposed creative direction and writing plans, not a confirmed renewal. TV Insider’s July 22, 2026 report said no additional season had been ordered at that time.
