The End of an Era is a six-episode, behind-the-scenes docuseries about the development, impact and inner workings of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Its first two episodes, as described by the Associated Press, trace the tour’s origins to Swift’s response to the sale of her back catalog and the renewed appetite for live events after the pandemic. The series premiered on Disney+ on December 12, 2025.
What is The End of an Era about?
Disney describes the series as an account of how the Eras Tour was developed and what it meant, with an intimate look at Swift’s life as the tour unfolded. Rather than simply documenting performances, it follows the undertaking behind them and the people who helped make the tour happen.
Disney announced six episodes, with two released each week beginning December 12, 2025. The final pair was scheduled for December 26. The official trailer describes the series as offering previously unseen insight into what it took to create the tour.
What do the first two episodes reveal?
The following takeaways concern episodes one and two, not the full six-episode series. The Associated Press reports that the opening begins in Vancouver, about 15 minutes before the final date of the tour, then looks back at forces that helped bring it about.

Swift’s back catalog helped shape the idea
According to the AP’s account of the opening episodes, the sale of Swift’s back catalog prompted her to value celebrating her past through rerecording. The series connects that impulse to a tour built around the different eras of her music.
The pandemic renewed the pull of live events
The AP also identifies the pandemic as a catalyst: after a period without the same access to live gatherings, audiences had a sharpened appetite for events. The opening episodes present this alongside the back-catalog story as part of the context for the tour.

The opening acknowledges the scale of the undertaking
The AP reports that Swift speaks to her dancers about the work behind the show. At a New York screening, she described the tour to the room as “a lifetime within my life,” according to the AP. That remark captures the scale of the experience without making the story solely about the performer: Disney’s trailer also foregrounds the wider group involved.
Ticket demand appears, but is not deeply examined
The AP notes that the first episode addresses demand for tickets and mentions Ticketmaster, but does not deeply examine the frustration surrounding the ticketing process. Viewers looking for an in-depth account of that controversy should not assume the opening episodes provide one.
