During the 28 June 2023 presale for Taylor Swift’s 2024 Melbourne and Sydney Eras Tour shows, fans reported Ticketek site problems. Ticketek said customers were successfully buying tickets and urged people not to refresh. The Australian tour has since concluded: Ticketek’s current page says The Eras Tour has left Australia, and its waitlist is for future updates—not a ticket booking.
What happened during the Ticketek presale?
On 28 June 2023, fans sought access to the Frontier Touring presale for the 2024 Melbourne and Sydney shows. PerthNow reported that more than one million fans were competing for 450,000 tickets and that the website crashed minutes into the sale. Ticketek later said its site was working and customers were purchasing tickets. PerthNow’s report contains the company’s response.
Ticketek’s message, quoted by PerthNow, was: “Customers are successfully purchasing. Please be patient and don’t refresh your browser.” It also advised fans to have account and payment details ready, said the page refreshed itself, and told people to stay on the page and wait for their turn.
The Guardian reported that more than four million users sought access to the Sydney and Melbourne presales, with more than 800,000 people in a Lounge queue at 8:30am. It also reported Ticketek’s claim that it had repelled more than half a billion bot attempts. These figures describe reported access demand, queue numbers and bot attempts—not completed purchases. Ticketek told the Guardian that “queuing is a necessary part of the purchasing process”. The Guardian’s account gives that separate snapshot of the sale.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Should you refresh the Ticketek queue page?
No. Ticketek’s current On-Sale Information guidance says not to refresh the Lounge page: it refreshes automatically and admits customers as space becomes available. The queue can help manage demand, but it does not guarantee that tickets will remain when your turn arrives.
How to prepare for a future Ticketek sale
- Check the event page and the artist, venue or promoter’s official channels for the sale time, seller, ticket limits and terms.
- Sign in close to the sale time and have your account and payment information ready. Ticketek warns that logging in too early can lead to a timeout and loss of place.
- Use one browser window on one device. Ticketek advises against multiple browsers, windows, tabs or devices because they can slow access and interfere with booking.
- Once you reach the Lounge page, leave it open and wait for it to refresh automatically. If you reach checkout, complete the booking within the stated time limit; otherwise tickets may be released.
Are Australian Eras Tour tickets still available?
No Australian Eras Tour sale is currently underway. Ticketek’s Taylor Swift page says the tour has left Australia. Fans can join the waitlist for news about a possible future Australian visit, but registering does not reserve or secure a ticket.

How to avoid fake Taylor Swift ticket offers
The ACCC warned on 24 January 2024 that social-media ticket offers could involve compromised accounts. By that date, Scamwatch had received 273 reports of people scammed buying Eras Tour tickets through social media since Australian tickets went on sale in June 2023; reported losses exceeded $135,000. Those are totals reported at the time, not current figures. The ACCC identified Ticketek Marketplace as the authorised resale channel for this event and said it was the safest way to get legitimate tickets. The ACCC’s warning explains the risks.
A common pattern is an offer posted or messaged by a social account, sometimes framed as a sale “at cost” with an urgent personal story. The buyer may be asked to send money or pay a ticket-name-change fee, but the ticket never arrives. An account can be compromised, so a familiar profile is not proof that the offer is genuine.
