It is not, however, a low-maintenance or officially stress-relieving alternative: Bandai describes its care as “busier than ever.” Its appeal is the mix of active caretaking, varied environments and play activities—not a promise of tranquility.
What do you do in Tamagotchi Paradise?
Bandai’s product description starts with caring for a newly hatched character. Players feed it, clean waste from its field, treat diseased cells and use Lab Mode activities. The zoom dial shifts the view between cellular, character, field and larger scales, giving the care loop a wider setting than a single virtual-pet screen.

Care choices and the environment affect which characters grow. Bandai also describes docking compatible devices to produce a child. Lab Mode includes mini-games, shopping and a picture book, so the device combines routine care with activities to explore.
Three fields, with different starting points
The first-wave Japanese listing identifies Land, Water and Sky fields. Pink Land, Blue Water and Purple Sky each begin in the field named by the edition. Bandai’s US Purple Sky listing says connecting with friends’ devices unlocks the other two fields. The nature theme may suggest tending a small ecosystem, but the device still asks for active attention and care.

Is Tamagotchi Paradise relaxing?
That depends on what you find enjoyable; the available official product descriptions do not establish a stress-reduction benefit. Bandai explicitly says caring for a Tamagotchi is “busier than ever.” Paradise may feel inviting to players drawn to its fields, creatures and broad zoom-based view, but it should not be described as an idle toy or a no-pressure mode.
Its biodiversity theme is a stated development aim, not evidence of a therapeutic effect. Bandai planner and developer Chisato Aoyagi said the product was designed with the hope that children would take an interest in Earth’s biodiversity as well as the importance of life. That is a translated rendering of her Japanese statement, not an official English translation.
Which Tamagotchi Paradise version should you choose?
Choose by starting field and features, not shell color alone. The first-wave editions share the central care concept, but newer variants can add features. In particular, Orange Tropics includes communication mini-games that the first-wave editions do not.

Does it need batteries, and what is the age rating?
The US listing specifies age 6+ and two AAA batteries, sold separately. Bandai’s Japanese listings for Pink Land and Orange Tropics also specify two AAA batteries sold separately. Check the packaging for your regional version, since the cited specification does not establish battery life.
What Bandai’s sales figures do—and do not—say
Bandai reported 98.1 million cumulative Tamagotchi units shipped as of March 2025. The company also said Paradise reservations, which opened May 21, 2025, exceeded four times Tamagotchi Uni’s preorder count. That is a comparison of reservations, not final sales. Separately, Bandai reported worldwide sales of Tamagotchi-related goods over five years at about seven times the 2019 level; that figure includes related merchandise and excludes games, so it is not a measure of Paradise device sales.
