Why did T.I. and Tiny’s side sue over the L.O.L. dolls?
The dispute involved the OMG Girlz, the musical group associated with T.I. and Tiny, and MGA Entertainment’s L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls. In the 2024 trial, the jury found for Grand Hustle, Pretty Hustle and OMG Girlz LLC on trade dress infringement and common-law misappropriation of name, likeness or identity involving seven dolls. The amended judgment also records findings involving eight additional dolls in connection with MGA’s declaratory claims.
Those are specific legal findings about particular products and claims. They should not be collapsed into a broader claim that the jury found every doll copied the group, or that the plaintiffs prevailed on every issue.
Which dolls were covered by the jury findings?
The amended judgment identifies the dolls and separates the seven at the center of the plaintiffs’ successful claims from eight additional dolls named in MGA’s declaratory claims.

What did the $71.5 million 2024 award include?
In September 2024, the Associated Press reported the jury’s total award as $71.5 million: about $17.9 million in actual damages and $53.6 million in punitive damages. That was the original verdict, before post-trial proceedings changed the damages outcome. OMG Girlz member Bahja Rodriguez described the verdict as “for creatives everywhere,” in remarks AP reported after the decision.
The key change was punitive damages. Following post-trial proceedings, a limited retrial ran from June 23 to July 1, 2026, to decide whether MGA and Isaac Larian acted with malice, oppression or fraud in the misappropriation involving the seven dolls. The jury answered no. The district court’s July 22, 2026 amended final judgment states that the jury did not find those conditions by clear and convincing evidence and awards no punitive damages.

What is the current damages award?
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California’s July 22, 2026 amended final judgment adopts a $17,872,253 disgorgement award for common-law misappropriation. It also provides post-judgment interest at 3.99%, compounded annually, from the judgment date until payment.
The remedies are not interchangeable: the court adopted the common-law misappropriation disgorgement award, did not award MGA’s profits under the Lanham Act, and declined punitive damages after the retrial. The judgment also enters judgment for MGA and Larian on specified statutory misappropriation, statutory unfair-competition and common-law unfair-competition claims. That is why a simple account that either side “won everything” would be inaccurate.

Has the judgment been paid, and is the case over?
The amended judgment stays enforcement until 30 days after issuance of the appeal mandate and defers fees and costs until after that mandate. The judgment’s reference to an appeal mandate does not establish the appeal’s outcome, and the available court disposition does not establish that payment has occurred. The figure to distinguish is therefore the reported 2024 jury total of $71.5 million from the later judgment’s $17,872,253 common-law award, subject to the stated interest and enforcement stay.
