Survivor ended its December 10, 2025, Season 49 episode with a memorial card for longtime editor and crew member Sean Foley. The tribute read: “In loving memory of Sean Foley, our friend and colleague.”
What did the Survivor tribute say?
The card appeared at the close of the December 10, 2025, episode. Contemporary coverage reported its wording as: “In loving memory of Sean Foley, our friend and colleague.” The text was displayed on screen; it was not attributed to an official CBS transcript.
Who was Sean Foley?
Foley was a longtime Survivor editor and crew member whose work spanned both the program’s editing and its on-screen identity.
He supervised editing on the first eight seasons
Foley worked as a supervising editor on the show’s first eight seasons, helping shape the footage into the episodes viewers saw.

What was reported about Foley’s death?
People reported that Foley died from brain cancer. The contemporaneous reports reviewed did not confirm an exact date of death, so a specific date should not be treated as established.
Andrew Zoeller, a reality TV producer and Foley’s best friend, told People: “Foley was my dearest friend, a loving family man and a creative force that helped shape the landscape of television as we know it.”
