Eva Erickson, the Survivor season 48 runner-up and a Brown University graduate student, said she was safe after a shooting at Brown on December 13, 2025. She reported that she had left her lab before an active-shooter alert. That is a statement about her circumstances at the time; the available reporting does not confirm her personal status on October 5, 2026.
What Eva Erickson said after the Brown shooting
In a social-media update reported on December 13, 2025, Erickson wrote, “I am safe.” She also said she was “very lucky” to have left her lab before the active-shooter alert. Just Jared’s contemporaneous report quoted her saying her office was in the building where the shooting occurred and that she had left her lab about 15 minutes before the alert.
The 15-minute interval is Erickson’s account of when she left relative to the alert, not an independently established timeline of the shooting. Her update said she had left; it does not place her inside the affected room or make her a shooting victim.
What happened at Brown University
The shooting took place on December 13, 2025, in Brown’s Barus and Holley engineering building in Providence. The Associated Press reported that two students were killed and nine others wounded. The AP report is the source for those casualty figures.
