Kohan leads the series as neurosurgeon Dr. Maggie Sullivan, Murray plays her love interest Cal Jones, and Patterson plays her estranged father, Harry “Sully” Sullivan, through Seasons 1–3.
There is one important current-status distinction: Scott Patterson is not included in the currently listed Season 4 cast. Season 4 instead highlights Maggie, Cal, Marcus Rosner’s new character Liam Davies, and the continuing Crossing ensemble. This guide identifies the principal characters, explains their roles without treating the television series as a literal copy of the novels, and shows where you may have seen the actors before.

Season 4 cast status
As of August 11, 2026, current Season 4 cast information lists Morgan Kohan, Chad Michael Murray, Marcus Rosner, Tom Jackson, Andrea Menard, Amalia Williamson, Reid Price, Lindura, and Dakota Taylor. Scott Patterson, who played Sully in Seasons 1–3, is not included in that current Season 4 listing. His absence from the cast listing should not by itself be treated as a spoiler about the character’s fate.
Main Sullivan’s Crossing cast
Morgan Kohan as Dr. Maggie Sullivan
Character: Maggie is the central character of Sullivan’s Crossing. She begins the series as a highly accomplished neurosurgeon in Boston, but a personal crisis brings her back to the campground and family she left behind. By Season 3, the official character description has Maggie moving permanently to the Crossing and trying to exchange the pressure and intensity of the operating room for a different kind of life.
Where you’ve seen Morgan Kohan before: Kohan is best known to many viewers as Lillian Walsh, the lead character in When Hope Calls. She has also appeared in Transplant, Batwoman, Star Trek: Discovery, The Bold Type, Kim’s Convenience, Ransom, and Creeped Out.

For viewers coming from gentle family dramas or Canadian television, When Hope Calls is the quickest connection. Genre viewers may recognize Kohan from her appearances in Transplant, Batwoman, or Star Trek: Discovery.
Chad Michael Murray as Cal Jones
Character: Cal Jones is Maggie’s romantic counterpart and a search-and-rescue professional associated with the Crossing. His relationship with Maggie develops alongside the practical pressures of his work and family. In Season 3, Cal returns from Search and Rescue training and becomes involved in a family crisis connected to his ill father.
Where you’ve seen Chad Michael Murray before: Murray’s defining television role is Lucas Scott in One Tree Hill. That remains the clearest recognition point for longtime television viewers. His other credits include Agent Carter, Scream Queens, Riverdale, Star, Sun Records, and Chosen.
His film work includes Freaky Friday, A Cinderella Story, House of Wax, Mother of the Bride, and The Merry Gentlemen. So if Cal looks familiar but you did not watch One Tree Hill, one of those films may be the reason.
Scott Patterson as Harry “Sully” Sullivan — Seasons 1–3
Character: Harry “Sully” Sullivan is Maggie’s estranged father and the longtime keeper of the family campground. He is a recovering alcoholic who spends the first three seasons repairing damaged relationships and learning how to make space for change. Season 3 also explores the possibility of a new romance between Sully and Helen Culver.

Where you’ve seen Scott Patterson before: Patterson is Gilmore Girls’ Luke Danes—the owner of Luke’s Diner and one of the most recognizable characters in that series. That makes Sully one of the show’s strongest crossover roles: the campground owner is played by the actor many viewers know as Lorelai Gilmore’s famously gruff diner-owner friend.
Patterson also played FBI profiler Peter Strahm in the Saw franchise. His résumé includes The Event, Seinfeld, Will & Grace, and Justice League Unlimited.
Season 4 clarification: Patterson should be identified as part of the Seasons 1–3 cast, not as a current Season 4 regular. Current Season 4 cast information does not list him.

His best recognition credits include North of 60, Cardinal, Shining Time Station, Red Earth Uncovered, Outlander, Supergirl, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He has also appeared in the film Cold Pursuit.
North of 60 and Cardinal are particularly useful reference points for viewers who watch Canadian television and crime drama.

Where you’ve seen Amalia Williamson before: Williamson’s strongest recognition credit is Northern Rescue, in which she played Madelyn West opposite Billy Baldwin and Kathleen Robertson. She has also appeared in Private Eyes, The Kid Detective, Children Ruin Everything, Bria Mack Gets a Life, and Letterkenny.
Northern Rescue is the most direct connection for viewers who found her through family drama, while Letterkenny is the useful secondary reference for comedy fans.
Lindura as Sydney Shandon
Character: Sydney is Rob Shandon’s daughter and Rafe Vadas’s romantic partner. Her story follows a young woman trying to decide what she wants long term while balancing her relationship and the demands of life around the Crossing.
Where you’ve seen Lindura before: Lindura made her television debut as Sydney. Her subsequent credits include Disney’s The Naughty Nine, Paramount+’s Royally Yours, This Christmas, and Hallmark’s Believe in Christmas.
Because Lindura has a shorter screen résumé than some of the show’s veteran performers, the most accurate description is that she is an emerging actor whose recognizable work so far is concentrated in holiday and family films.
Dakota Taylor as Rafe Vadas
Character: Rafe works with the local fire department and is Sydney’s partner. In Season 3, a new fire chief creates professional pressure for Rafe, forcing him to weigh his career priorities against his relationship and personal commitments.
Where you’ve seen Dakota Taylor before: Taylor appeared in Netflix’s skating drama Zero Chill. Other credits include The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, Homekilling Queen, Canada: The Story of Us, Ghosts, and Warrior Up!
Reid Price as Rob Shandon
Character: Rob is Sydney’s father and Finn Shandon’s parent. After the diner fire, he faces the practical and emotional challenge of rebuilding his livelihood while protecting his family.
Where you’ve seen Reid Price before: Price has appeared in From, The Sinner, Chapelwaite, Moonshine, Diggstown, Mr. D, and Trailer Park Boys. He also has credits in To Have & To Holiday and King & Pawn.

Marcus Rosner as Liam Davies — Season 4 addition
Character: Liam Davies is Maggie’s former husband and a major new source of relationship conflict in Season 4. He returns unexpectedly while preparing to continue his career as a war reporter in Europe.
Where you’ve seen Marcus Rosner before: Rosner is recognizable from UnREAL and the film Romance to the Rescue. Those credits offer a useful bridge for viewers who know him from serialized drama or television romance, without reducing his career to either title.
Supporting and recurring cast members
The characters below help fill out the Crossing, emergency-service, and family storylines. Their current-season prominence varies, so this is a broader series cast guide rather than a claim that every performer is a regular in Season 4.
Steve Lund as Cooper
Cooper arrives as the new fire chief in Season 3 and immediately brings professional tension to the local fire department. Steve Lund may be familiar from his recurring role as Jake in Schitt’s Creek, as well as Bitten, Reign, Street Legal, Haven, Blue Mountain State, and numerous Hallmark productions.

His film credits include Saw VI, Suicide Squad, Code 8, and Lucky Number Slevin. The best reference point depends on the viewer: Orphan Black and The Expanse work well for science-fiction audiences, while Designated Survivor offers a broader drama connection.
Kate Vernon as Helen Culver
Helen Culver is a bestselling romance novelist who arrives at the Crossing in Season 3 and becomes a potential romantic match for Sully. Kate Vernon is best known for playing characters in Battlestar Galactica, the recognition credit most closely associated with her appearance in the series.

Other earlier-season supporting players
A broader cast list also includes Lynda Boyd as Phoebe Lancaster, Allan Hawco as Andrew Mathews, Lauren Hammersley as Connie Boyle, and Zayn Maloney as Finn Shandon. They are important supporting players from the earlier seasons, but available production and current-season listings do not give all four the same Season 4 prominence as the principal ensemble.

If you want to go back to the source material after meeting the television characters, you can read the Sullivan’s Crossing books in order. Collection editions are also available, including a Sullivan’s Crossing Collection Volume 1.
These are source novels, not television tie-in editions. The television adaptation uses the world and family framework of Carr’s series while developing its own screen ensemble, chronology, romantic dynamics, and character emphasis. A reader should therefore expect connections in premise and setting rather than a one-to-one transfer of every television storyline.

What makes the cast recognizable?
The show’s casting draws heavily from overlapping Canadian television, family drama, Hallmark-style romance, CW programming, and Netflix audiences. That is why the quickest recognition links range from Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, and Schitt’s Creek to Virgin River-adjacent viewers, Hallmark films, and Canadian dramas such as North of 60, Cardinal, and Blackstone.
The most immediate discoveries are Patterson as Sully, Murray as Cal, and Kohan as Maggie. After those three, Jackson, Menard, Williamson, Outerbridge, Vernon, and Oulette provide the strongest connections for viewers who follow Canadian drama and genre television. The Season 4 addition of Rosner as Liam gives the family and relationship story a new familiar face without changing the show’s central focus on Maggie and the Crossing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Scott Patterson in Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4?

No. The television series is adapted from Robyn Carr’s five-novel Sullivan’s Crossing series: What We Find, Any Day Now, The Family Gathering, The Best of Us, and The Country Guesthouse. The show develops its own screen continuity rather than reproducing every book plot exactly.
