It offered free romance audiobooks through title-specific retailer or author-download links; Kobo says the promotion will return, but no next date is confirmed. This is a recap of the 2025 event, not an announcement of a current offer.
What was Stuff Your Earbuds Day?
It was a free audiobook promotion focused on romance titles from indie and hybrid authors. The 2025 guide described romance only, with subgenres including fantasy romance and historical romance—not a general, all-genre audiobook sale. The event directory also presented it as a way to discover authors and narrators.

Camilla Isley’s November 14, 2025 promotional post described the event as featuring “over 100 romance audiobooks.” That is the author’s promotional count, not an independently verified event-wide total.
When was the event, and is it coming back?
The 2025 event ran November 14–15. Those dates have passed. Kobo’s event page says the promotion will return, but does not give a date for its next edition. A separate offer displayed on Kobo for May 2026 is not confirmation of a November 2026 event.

How could readers get the free audiobooks?
The 2025 guide directed readers to the Romance Audiobookworms list, where each title had its own retailer or direct-download options. Availability varied by book, so the listed options for one title did not necessarily apply to another. The guide said readers needed free accounts.
- Open the 2025 event guide and browse the Romance Audiobookworms list.
- Choose a title and check its synopsis, romance subgenre, narrator, and any content information available on the listing.
- Use the retailer or author-download option shown for that specific title. The guide listed Google Play Books, Kobo, Apple Books, Spotify, Chirp, Barnes & Noble Nook, and author-direct delivery through BookFunnel as possible routes.
- Check that the title can be claimed in your region and review the retailer or download terms before completing the claim.
A retailer app is one way to listen; BookFunnel was listed as a route for direct author delivery. Wireless earbuds were optional, not a requirement to claim or listen to the audiobooks.

Do readers have to return the audiobooks?
The event guide said readers could keep titles they downloaded rather than return them. Check the terms attached to the particular title and access route, though: that general description should not be assumed to override every retailer’s or delivery provider’s conditions.
Why was Audible not included?
According to the 2025 guide, Audible was excluded because participating authors could not set their audiobook prices to free there through the event. The guide instead directed readers to the title-specific retailers and author-download options it listed.

How to choose a title
With a title-by-title selection and different access routes, check the details that matter to your listening preferences before claiming a book:
- Romance subgenre and content: See whether the premise fits your interests, including if you are looking for fantasy romance or historical romance.
- Narrator: Listen to a sample if the listing provides one.
- Regional availability: Confirm the retailer offers that title where you live.
- Access method: Decide whether you prefer a retailer app or a direct download, and check that you can use the route offered.
- Terms: Review the title’s claim and access conditions rather than assuming every platform handles downloads the same way.
What the available information does not establish
The event guide is a secondary source for the 2025 mechanics and dates. Kobo’s page separately confirms a general future return but gives no schedule. The available sources do not establish the complete 2025 inventory, availability of every title in every region, platform terms that apply today, or the date of a future event.
