StreamVoodoo and OBS do different jobs. StreamVoodoo connects remote participants and provides separate audio/video feeds; OBS Studio is free, open-source software for composing scenes, recording, and streaming from your computer. Use StreamVoodoo when remote contributors and separately controlled feeds are central. Choose OBS for local production control—or combine them by adding StreamVoodoo Magic Links as browser sources in OBS.
What StreamVoodoo and OBS actually do
StreamVoodoo: remote participants and individual feeds
StreamVoodoo describes itself as a browser-based service for connecting multiple high-definition video feeds with studio-quality sound. Its FAQ lists Duo rooms for two concurrent connections, Cinco for five, and Switcher for up to ten. These are vendor-documented plan details, not independent performance findings, and may change. Each participant can have an individual Magic Link feed with sound; the FAQ says feeds can be used as browser sources in OBS or vMix and that feed quality and volume can be controlled. The browser workflow still depends on each participant’s device, camera, microphone, and network. StreamVoodoo’s FAQ describes camera and microphone permissions, video-resolution and bitrate controls, codec choices, and studio-audio settings. It recommends Ethernet for its highest video-quality settings. Its sub-second-latency statement is a vendor claim, not a measured comparison against OBS.
OBS Studio: local scene production
The OBS Project describes OBS Studio as free, open-source software for video recording and live streaming. It captures and mixes sources into scenes; examples include window captures, images, text, browser windows, webcams, and capture cards. It also provides transitions, an audio mixer, filters, and extensibility through plugins and scripts. OBS runs on your own supported computer, so encoding and production work depend on that machine. Can you use StreamVoodoo with OBS?
Yes. StreamVoodoo says each Magic Link provides an individual feed with sound and can be added to OBS as a browser source. This lets you bring remote participants into an OBS scene while keeping scene composition and mixing in OBS.

- Have each contributor join the named StreamVoodoo room and grant the browser access to their camera and microphone.
- Copy the participant’s Magic Link feed as described by StreamVoodoo.
- In OBS, add a browser source and use that feed link as its source URL; arrange the source within the scene as needed.
- Check that the participant’s picture and sound are present in the intended scene and test the complete audio path before a live production.
Exact controls can change; consult the StreamVoodoo FAQ for its current room and feed guidance. The FAQ recommends headphones when Studio Sound is enabled: unprocessed microphone audio can pick up sound from speakers and create feedback. Headphones for streaming are an optional way to reduce that risk, not a required product purchase.
Does either tool replace the other?
Not necessarily. StreamVoodoo’s documented purpose is connecting remote participants and exposing their feeds; OBS’s is local scene-based capture, mixing, recording, and streaming. If your production needs both remote guests and detailed local scene control, the documented browser-source workflow allows them to work together. StreamVoodoo is not a substitute for all local hardware or network needs, and OBS is not a cloud replacement for StreamVoodoo’s remote rooms.

What to expect from OBS performance
OBS compatibility with a computer does not by itself mean that computer can stream or record smoothly. The OBS Project warns: “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.” It says CPU needs depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Reduce scene demands or adjust production settings if the machine cannot keep up; the requirements page does not promise a universal configuration that will work for every setup. Pricing and what is established
The available StreamVoodoo FAQ does not establish current plan pricing. A legacy plans page lists Voodoo Switch at $250/month, but that is legacy information and does not verify current price or availability. Do not treat it as a current quote. Legacy StreamVoodoo plans page
