The standout Canadian streaming choices for May 5–11, 2025 were David Blaine’s globe-spanning documentary series Do Not Attempt on Disney+, the true-crime story behind Sexiest Man in Winnipeg on Prime Video, and the return of Poker Face through the Citytv+ add-on. Netflix also had a strong week with the feature comedy Nonnas and the six-episode teen romance Forever, while Crave added The Outrun and the second season of Conan O’Brien Must Go.
This is a Canada-specific editorial selection for May 5–11, 2025, not a current catalogue or complete list of every title added during that week. Streaming rights and release dates can differ by country, and historical availability should not be treated as a guarantee that every title remains on the same service today.
The week’s best documentary and factual picks
For documentary viewers, the clearest choices were David Blaine: Do Not Attempt on Disney+ and Sexiest Man in Winnipeg on Prime Video. The former explores astonishing physical feats around the world; the latter tells a distinctly Canadian story about a former Saskatchewan sports anchor who became a bank robber.
The week was broader than documentaries, however. The Canada lineup also included a live WWE event, prestige drama, a new romantic series, an erotic thriller and returning television favourites. Here is what was highlighted for each service.

Crave
Conan O’Brien Must Go — season 2
The second season premiered on Crave on May 8, 2025. Conan O’Brien again travels internationally to surprise fans, with the season visiting New Zealand, Austria and Spain. The format combines travel documentary footage, celebrity-style encounters and O’Brien’s improvised comedy.
The season was described as having three episodes of approximately one hour each. Unlike a full-season drop, the first episode was followed by weekly releases, so viewers looking for the entire season at once would have needed to wait for the remaining episodes.
The Outrun
Nora Fingscheidt’s drama arrived on Crave on May 9, 2025. Saoirse Ronan plays a woman recovering from alcoholism who returns to Scotland’s Orkney Islands to try to rebuild her life. Paapa Essiedu and Saskia Reeves also star.
With a reported runtime of one hour and 58 minutes, The Outrun is the week’s principal prestige-film pick on Crave. Its remote-island setting and recovery-focused story make it a more serious option than the week’s lighter comedy and entertainment releases.

Bell Media’s weekly schedule included considerably more than the two principal highlights above. Other notable programming listed for the week included:
- The Staircase, premiering May 5;
- Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, arriving for Canadian streaming on May 5;
- Sheryl, the Showtime documentary about musician Sheryl Crow, premiering May 6;
- new episodes or scheduled programming from The Flight Attendant, Julia, Barry, The Baby, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, We Own This City, Gentleman Jack, The First Lady and The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Movie additions listed for May 6 included The 355, I’m Your Man, Kung Fu Panda 3, Mogul Mowgli and She Whistles / Kwêskosîw. The schedule also included Starz titles such as Kubo and the Two Strings, Rememory and Gaslit. These were part of the wider Crave schedule rather than the two main weekly picks.
Disney+
David Blaine: Do Not Attempt
Disney+ Canada released all six episodes of David Blaine: Do Not Attempt on May 7, 2025. This was the week’s most direct fit for documentary viewers who enjoy extraordinary real-world abilities and international human-interest stories.
The series follows Blaine as he travels to meet people whose physical accomplishments appear almost magical. The reported locations include Brazil, Southeast Asia, India, the Arctic Circle, South Africa and Japan. Rather than presenting the feats simply as stage illusions, the series focuses on the people who perform them and the limits of what the human body can do.

All six episodes were available together at release, making this the easiest of the week’s major documentary picks to watch as a complete series rather than follow week by week.
Netflix
Backlash 2025
Backlash 2025 streamed on Netflix Canada on May 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. The WWE event featured John Cena versus Randy Orton, along with matches including Lyra Valkyria versus Becky Lynch and Gunther versus Pat McAfee.
Because this was a live sports-entertainment event rather than a conventional film or series premiere, its release timing mattered: viewers who wanted to watch it live needed to account for the Eastern and Pacific start times. The event was included in the weekly streaming roundup even though it does not fit the traditional documentary category.
Forever
Forever premiered on Netflix Canada on May 8, 2025. The six-episode drama follows two childhood friends who reunite as teenagers and fall in love.

The series is based on Judy Blume’s 1975 novel and was created by Mara Brock Akil. Its all-episode format makes it a straightforward binge choice for viewers seeking a coming-of-age romance rather than a documentary or standalone film.
Nonnas
Nonnas arrived on Netflix Canada on May 9, 2025. The comedy follows Joe Scaravella, who opens an Italian restaurant staffed by grandmothers after the death of his mother.
Stephen Chbosky directed the film, which stars Vince Vaughn, Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco and Talia Shire. Netflix’s Canadian 2025 announcement also listed May 9 as the release date, confirming the Canada-specific timing. It was the week’s most accessible feature-film option for viewers looking for a warm ensemble comedy.
Prime Video
Babygirl
Halina Reijn’s erotic thriller Babygirl arrived on Prime Video Canada on May 6, 2025. Nicole Kidman plays a high-profile CEO whose affair with a younger intern begins to threaten both her professional position and her family life.

Poker Face — season 2
The second season of Poker Face began on May 8, 2025, with the first three episodes, followed by new episodes on Thursdays.
There is an important Canadian access distinction: season 2 was available through Citytv+ on Prime Video, not simply as part of the standard Prime Video catalogue. At the time of the May 2025 guide, Citytv+ required a separate $9.99-per-month membership in addition to the relevant Prime Video access. That historical price should not be assumed to be current.
The crime comedy-drama follows Charlie Cale, a cocktail waitress with an extraordinary ability to tell when people are lying. After encountering suspicious deaths, she investigates the mysteries herself. The weekly Thursday schedule meant that only the opening three episodes were available at launch.

The most obvious Canadian-interest selection of the week was Sexiest Man in Winnipeg, which premiered on Prime Video Canada on May 9, 2025.
The documentary recounts the true story of Steve Vogelsang, a former Saskatchewan sports anchor who became a bank robber. Charlie Siskel and Ben Daughtrey directed the film, while Will Arnett narrated and co-produced it.
The title’s unusual premise and Canadian setting make it a natural choice for viewers who prefer crime documentaries with a local connection rather than stories centred on the United States or international celebrities.

The most important access warning concerned Poker Face. In Canada, its second season was carried through the Citytv+ channel on Prime Video. Readers who already had Prime Video should not assume that the show was included automatically; the Citytv+ add-on was separately priced in the original May 2025 listing.

The same caution applies more broadly to this guide. A title being associated with Prime Video, Crave, Disney+ or Netflix does not mean it is available in every country, on every tier or indefinitely. The release dates above describe the Canadian schedule for that specific week, not guaranteed present-day availability.

Important date and availability note
This roundup refers specifically to the week of May 5–11, 2025. It was an editorial selection of notable releases on the four named services, not an exhaustive list of all catalogue changes. Some entries were new Canadian arrivals, while others were live events, weekly episodes or programming supplied through an additional channel.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAmazon’s wider May 2025 announcement also cautioned that Prime Video availability varies by region. That is why U.S.-only titles from a general Prime Video schedule should not be added to a Canada guide without separate Canadian verification.
Frequently Asked Questions
What was the best documentary to stream in Canada from May 5–11, 2025?
David Blaine: Do Not Attempt was the clearest broad documentary pick. Disney+ Canada released all six episodes on May 7, following Blaine as he met people in Brazil, Southeast Asia, India, the Arctic Circle, South Africa and Japan whose physical feats appear extraordinary.
Was Poker Face season 2 included with Prime Video in Canada?
Not according to the May 2025 Canadian schedule. Season 2 was available through the Citytv+ add-on on Prime Video, requiring a separate Citytv+ membership. The listed $9.99 monthly price was historical and may have changed.
Which title in the lineup had the strongest Canadian connection?
Sexiest Man in Winnipeg was the strongest Canadian-interest selection. It tells the true story of Steve Vogelsang, a former Saskatchewan sports anchor who became a bank robber, and premiered on Prime Video Canada on May 9, 2025.
Was this a complete list of everything added to the services?
No. It was an editorial guide to notable releases during May 5–11, 2025. Crave’s full schedule, for example, also included additional series episodes, movies and Starz programming beyond the two principal highlights.
The Bottom Line
For documentary fans, start with David Blaine: Do Not Attempt on Disney+ or Sexiest Man in Winnipeg on Prime Video. Choose The Outrun for a serious feature drama, Nonnas for a comedy, or Poker Face season 2 if you have access to the separately billed Citytv+ channel through Prime Video. All dates and access details in this guide are specific to Canada’s May 5–11, 2025 schedule.
