In CNN’s rush transcript, Wonder also speaks about action, voting, joy over anger, kindness over recrimination, peace over war, and unity. The transcript gives a longer version of his line as “As we stand between history’s pain and tomorrow’s promises, we must choose courage over complacency.” ABC News Australia’s live update instead says “tomorrow’s courage.” Because the reports differ, the shorter sentence is the clearest wording to quote without qualification.
