Stephen King’s time-travel series 11.22.63 is streaming on Netflix, according to Netflix’s January 10, 2026 announcement. It is an eight-episode limited series about a teacher who travels back to try to prevent John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Netflix confirms the show’s arrival, but its official materials do not establish a specific ranking or audience figure behind claims that it is an “instant hit.”
What is 11.22.63 about?
Jake Epping, a Maine teacher, discovers a portal that sends him from 2011 to 1960. He takes on the mission of preventing JFK’s assassination, but the story also follows the people he meets and the consequences of trying to change history. Netflix’s summaries establish the premise; the series’ final episode signals that Jake’s intervention has an unexpected result, so it is best approached without spoilers.

Is 11.22.63 on Netflix?
Netflix announced on January 10, 2026, that the series was streaming on its service. Its catalog page for 11.22.63 lists the show and its eight episodes. Availability can differ by country and change over time, so check the Netflix catalog where you live rather than assuming it is available everywhere.
Was it originally a Hulu series?
Yes. 11.22.63 first appeared as a Hulu Original in 2016. Hulu’s 2015 announcement described it as an eight-part miniseries and gave February 15, 2016, as its debut date. Netflix’s 2026 arrival is a later streaming home, not the series’ original release.
#1 Best Overall
StephenKing.com’s adaptation listing labels the work with a November 19, 2015 release date. That differs from Hulu’s explicit premiere announcement; Hulu’s date is the clearer source for the series’ debut.
Is it really an “instant hit”?
The available official Netflix pages confirm the title’s presence, not a rank or audience total. In a January 21, 2026 news excerpt, StephenKing.com described its Netflix performance as a “triumph” and said it had charted in the U.S. The excerpt does not identify the chart, position, date range, or number of viewers. That supports a limited claim that it charted, but not a precise or ongoing hit ranking.

How long is the series, and what is its rating?
Netflix lists 11.22.63 as an eight-episode, TV-MA limited series released in 2016. That makes it a finite adaptation rather than an open-ended show; Netflix’s episode list is the practical guide to its length.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you watch the series or read the novel first?
The series is based on King’s 2011 novel 11/22/63. If you want the screen version of the time-travel premise in a limited-series format, you can start with the show; reading the novel first is optional, not a prerequisite. Both are ways into the same central story, but the available official descriptions do not support a detailed account of which scenes or subplots the adaptation changes, so there is no need to promise a scene-by-scene comparison.
