Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws story trailer premiered on April 9, 2024, and announced an August 30, 2024 release date. That date has passed. The trailer introduced Kay Vess’s high-risk heist story, the crime syndicate Zerek Besh, and a web of rival factions whose relationships can shape missions and access.
What the story trailer reveals
The trailer follows outlaw Kay Vess after a job goes wrong and leaves a bounty on her. With her companion Nix, she travels through the Outer Rim recruiting outlaws for a major heist. The central threat is Sliro, a wealthy Canto Bight figure who leads the new syndicate Zerek Besh. Ubisoft’s official story trailer and its April 9 announcement also introduce Vail, Jaylen, and Queen Ashiga.
The trailer frames the story as a heist adventure rather than a Jedi-centered tale: Kay is an outlaw trying to survive among powerful criminal groups. Creative director Julian Gerighty described Zerek Besh as “making waves” and taking its place among the galaxy’s most powerful crime syndicates in a StarWars.com interview published April 9, 2024.
How syndicates and reputation fit into the story
Ubisoft names the Pyke Syndicate, Hutt Cartel, Ashiga Clan, and Crimson Dawn among the organizations Kay encounters. The story announcement says jobs and choices can affect her standing with each group, influencing which jobs, support, and territories become available. A poor relationship can also turn a syndicate against her. This means faction ties are presented as part of both the narrative and the route through the game, not just background lore.

Ubisoft’s official game information describes a mix of high-risk missions, blaster combat, stealth, gadgets, and piloting Kay’s ship, the Trailblazer. Those elements provide the context for the trailer’s heist premise: Kay’s crew and alliances are tools for getting through jobs and navigating the Outer Rim.
