She pushes Vos out of its path and takes the lightning herself. Later official Star Wars material says Nightsister magick brings Ventress back to life.
How Ventress dies in Dark Disciple
In the novel’s final confrontation, Dooku turns his Force lightning on Vos. Ventress shoves Vos clear and absorbs the attack, sacrificing herself to save him. Dooku escapes, while Ventress’s choice helps Vos return from the dark side.
As she speaks to Vos, Ventress reflects on the danger of being lured by desire: “It’s a trap baited with all the things you want most in life — and it’s not worth living.” StarWars.com editorial, June 20, 2017
Where Ventress is laid to rest
After her death, Obi-Wan Kenobi accompanies Vos to Dathomir. They lay Ventress to rest in the planet’s dark waters.

Does Asajj Ventress stay dead?
No. StarWars.com later states that Nightsister magick brings Ventress back to life. Its character feature also points to her appearances in The Bad Batch and Tales of the Underworld. The feature does not explain the precise resurrection mechanism or the steep price associated with her return, so those details remain unspecified.
