What’s actually slowing this PC down?

To fix buffering in an SRS-to-YouTube workflow on an Indian VPS, first find which link is failing: the encoder or publisher, SRS, the VPS or its network route, YouTube delivery, or the playback client. A picture that freezes or repeatedly reloads is not the same problem as a stream that plays continuously but arrives late. Changing SRS settings before distinguishing those symptoms can make diagnosis harder.
First identify what “buffering” means
Freezing, stalls, or repeated rebuffering
These point to interruptions somewhere in the stream path, but they do not identify which component is responsible. The publisher may be failing to send steadily; SRS may be struggling to receive, process, or forward the stream; the VPS may be constrained; or a network, delivery, or player issue may interrupt playback. A viewer-side freeze alone does not prove that SRS is the cause.
Continuous playback with a long delay
Latency means the picture arrives late; it can remain smooth once it plays. SRS’s FAQ says latency depends on each link, including the FFmpeg or OBS publishing tool and the player, not just SRS. It also identifies VLC as a common source of high observed latency and recommends the SRS H5 player when investigating latency. Treat that as a comparison to try—not proof that VLC causes every freeze or YouTube buffering report. SRS FAQ
Trace the stream path before changing settings
Write down the actual path your stream takes. A typical relay setup may include an encoder or publisher, an SRS ingest endpoint, an SRS output or forwarding path, YouTube ingest, and the player used to watch the stream. The exact topology, protocols, and YouTube endpoint are not specified here, so do not assume every deployment uses the same path.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
SRS documents RTMP, HTTP-FLV, HLS, and WebRTC paths. Comparing playback paths can help isolate a problem, but use the same source stream where possible and a client that supports the protocol being tested. A difference between paths is a diagnostic clue, not a guaranteed fix. SRS v8 WebRTC documentation
Use this troubleshooting sequence
- Reproduce and classify the symptom. Note whether playback freezes, restarts, or continues smoothly while delayed. Record when it happens and whether it affects one player or more than one.
- Compare playback clients. If latency is the main complaint, compare the existing player with the SRS H5 player where your setup supports it. If one client behaves differently, investigate that player and its protocol before changing server settings. A player comparison does not, by itself, locate the cause of a freeze.
- Watch the publisher and SRS while the problem occurs. Check the OBS or FFmpeg publishing status and the relevant SRS logs at the same time. Look for a publishing interruption, a disconnect, or a change that coincides with the viewer symptom. The SRS FAQ’s key diagnostic point is that the publishing tool, server, and player can all affect latency; checking them together also helps avoid blaming one link without evidence. SRS FAQ
- Record versions and protocols. Identify the exact SRS release, how the stream is published into SRS, how SRS sends or serves it onward, and what protocol the playback client uses. Consult documentation matching the installed SRS version before changing settings.
- Measure the VPS and network during the stream. Check CPU and memory use, sustained network throughput, route quality, outbound or egress constraints, and firewall behavior while reproducing the issue. Ask the VPS provider for measurements or plan limits that apply to your instance. A server located in India is not, by itself, evidence of either a good route or adequate capacity.
- Change one version-matched setting at a time. Keep a record of the original value and the result of each test. If the change does not improve the same reproducible symptom, revert it before trying another variable.
If the path uses WebRTC, check transport reachability
SRS identifies inaccessible UDP ports and an incorrect advertised candidate address as common WebRTC failure causes. Check both the VPS firewall and any firewall or network controls at the provider layer. Confirm that SRS advertises an address reachable by the remote client; a private or otherwise unreachable address can prevent a usable connection.

SRS v8 documents UDP and TCP transport options, including an example using TCP port 8000. It also says that remote WHIP publishing from a remote Linux server or another device requires HTTPS in the setup described by that documentation. These details are version- and endpoint-dependent: verify the installed SRS version and client support before selecting a transport or relying on that example. SRS FAQ · SRS v8 WebRTC documentation
Do not paste historical low-latency settings into an unknown version
An SRS v2 low-latency guide illustrates how configuration choices can trade off startup time, latency, and performance. Its example includes GOP-cache, queue-length, minimum-latency, merged-read, and TCP no-delay settings. That is historical, version-specific material—not a current universal recipe for an unspecified SRS installation. In particular, buffering choices can affect resource use as well as delay, and a change intended to reduce latency is not automatically a cure for freezes. Check the documentation for your exact release before adjusting these options. SRS v2 Low Latency guide

Separate network or playback faults from YouTube policy issues
Copyright, rights to rebroadcast, and YouTube’s rules for reused content are separate questions from whether packets arrive steadily. Confirm you have the necessary rights and check YouTube’s current requirements for your content and live-stream setup; the SRS references linked here do not establish a YouTube-specific configuration or policy diagnosis. Do not interpret a policy or rights issue as proof of VPS congestion, or treat a network fix as a resolution of content-policy questions.

If the channel is meant to loop prerecorded video 24/7 rather than relay a live camera or other real-time source through SRS, StreamNeo is a separate YouTube-only option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera and is not a fix for diagnosing an existing SRS relay.
