What did the leaked Spider-Man: Brand New Day images appear to show?
In a report published on 16 February 2026, TechRadar’s Tom Power said images circulating on 14 and 15 February had appeared in a banner on Brazilian clothing retailer Piticas’ website. The article identified Scorpion, Boomerang and Tarantula in the imagery. It also reported on separate promotional art that seemed to show Lonnie Lincoln, also known as Tombstone, holding Spider-Man.
The report described the Tombstone image as a recreation of the cover of the 1988 comic The Spectacular Spider-Man #142. That makes the issue a direct comic-reading connection for anyone curious about the apparent reference. The leak report did not establish a current edition or retailer listing for the comic.

Why did some commenters criticize Scorpion’s design?
According to TechRadar’s account of selected ResetEra and Reddit discussions, the main point of criticism was the change to Scorpion’s tail. Some commenters also wanted Mac Gargan to wear the character’s helmet and visor. The article noted that other fans were not bothered by the design, and that the costume in the leaked artwork might not be final.

That account describes reactions in particular online discussions, not a poll or a measured consensus among Marvel fans. It also does not establish that the design shown in the leak was the version used in the finished film.
How the leak fits the film’s timeline
TechRadar placed the February images in a longer sequence of reports. Its article referred to earlier reporting about Tombstone, Scorpion and Boomerang, later behind-the-scenes material suggesting Tarantula, and reports that Marvin Jones III would play Tombstone and Michael Mando was expected to return as Gargan. Those details were attributed to reporting discussed in the article; the leak story alone does not make them studio confirmations.

Sony’s official trailer later described Peter Parker as fighting crime full time in a world that does not remember him, while facing a new threat to the city and the people he loves. Sony’s credited cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo; Destin Daniel Cretton is credited as director. Where the film stands now
The story is no longer a preview of a film awaiting release. Sony Group recorded a theatrical opening on 31 July 2026 and reported opening-weekend earnings of $360 million domestically and $932 million globally.
