Sony released the first worldwide trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day on March 18, 2026. The live breakdown is over, and the film has since opened in U.S. theaters; Sony lists digital availability from October 6 and promotes 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions. The teaser’s central story is Peter Parker facing life alone after the world forgets him—and a physical change that may be altering his powers.
What happens in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer?
The teaser begins with Peter unmasked and hanging upside down on a building as he watches a video of MJ and Ned. The shot immediately frames his problem: he can see the people he cares about, but they no longer remember him.
A montage shows Peter alone in New York. He passes the cafe where MJ works, washes his Spider-Man suit, and appears in a news item about Spider-Man receiving the city’s keys. The trailer then turns to a street fight: Spider-Man pursues an armored vehicle through explosions, is struck by a van driven by Frank Castle, and trades barbs with Frank before they fight while the pursuit continues. These scenes are visible in the trailer; their precise place in the plot is not established by the footage alone.
The tone shifts when Peter collapses. He is shown in what looks like a web cocoon outside his apartment, and the footage suggests webbing may be emerging from his body. Bruce Banner appears in a medical or scanning context. Peter also visits Aunt May’s grave, struggles with pain, and faces attackers in a prison setting. A voiceover about spider life cycles and vulnerability accompanies the sequence.
Near the end, the trailer offers a brief look at Scorpion, a rooftop moment with MJ, fights involving several costumed figures, and Peter meeting MJ and Ned at a gathering. The footage does not establish every opponent’s identity or affiliation, so visual guesses about the groups should not be treated as confirmed character announcements.

What is the story behind Peter’s isolation?
Sony’s official synopsis places the story four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter’s identity—and his existence—have been removed from the memories of the people close to him. He devotes himself to fighting crime, but mounting pressure and a physical transformation threaten him as a new danger approaches. Sony sums up the premise: “The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”
The first trailer makes that loneliness concrete through the video of MJ and Ned, Peter’s glimpse of MJ at work, and his visit to May’s grave. Those images support the reading that he is struggling with the consequences of being forgotten; they do not, by themselves, explain how the memory spell works or what Peter’s new physical symptoms mean.

Is Peter Parker developing organic webbing?
The trailer shows Peter in a web cocoon and appears to show webbing coming from his body. That is evidence of a bodily change, not a full explanation of it. Sony’s official synopsis confirms a physical transformation but does not specify that Peter is developing organic webbing or explain its cause. The voiceover’s reference to a spider’s vulnerable period between life cycles invites a connection to Peter’s condition, but the trailer does not confirm exactly how the metaphor applies.

Sony’s current character FAQ identifies Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. That is a later official confirmation: when TechRadar published its March 18 live breakdown, Sink’s role was still unknown and Jean Grey was discussed as a possibility, not a confirmed casting detail. Sony’s current character list also names Peter Parker/Spider-Man, MJ, Ned, Frank Castle/The Punisher, Bruce Banner/Hulk, and William “Bill” Metzger.
Is the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Yes. Sony identifies Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal, as the Punisher in its current character material. The trailer shows Castle driving the van that hits Spider-Man, then exchanging barbs and fighting with him during the armored-vehicle pursuit.
