A kebab truck bearing Australian YouTuber Spanian’s brand was damaged in an early-morning fire in Preston, Melbourne, on May 31, 2025. ABC News reported that the incident was referred to police because of suspicious circumstances. The report did not establish the cause or identify a suspect, so the fire should not be described as confirmed arson.
What happened in Preston
According to ABC News’s May 31, 2025 report, the truck was parked overnight at a car park on Bell Street in Preston when it was damaged by fire. Firefighters were called just after 3:45am.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson told ABC that firefighters brought the incident under control quickly and used thermal imaging to check that hotspots were extinguished before leaving the scene.
Why the fire was referred to police
ABC reported that the incident was referred to police because of suspicious circumstances. That describes the status reported at the time; it does not establish how the fire started. The report named no suspect and gave no completed investigation finding.

What Spanian said about the truck
ABC reported that Spanian wrote on social media that the truck would be replaced. The report also quoted him saying the trucks belonged to people in the community who had saved up for them and had to pay for them. Those remarks are attributed to Spanian; the report does not independently verify the owners’ circumstances or provide a replacement timetable.
ABC said the truck had reportedly been operating for about two weeks, attributing that timing to social media. This is reported context, not an independently verified opening date.
