An LG C1 is compatible with Disney+, so the message “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.” usually points to a temporary app, network, account, or TV-software problem—not an obsolete television. Work through the fixes in order, beginning with a complete app relaunch and a power cycle. The most useful diagnostic is whether Disney+ works on another network, such as a phone hotspot.
The LG C1 is a 2021 OLED television running webOS 6.0. LG lists Disney+ as a supported app for the 2021 C1 series, and Disney+ supports LG televisions from 2016 onward running webOS 3.0 or later. Compatibility is therefore normally not the reason Disney+ suddenly stops working on an LG C1.
If Disney+ displays the same message during playback with error code 83, Disney+ describes that code broadly: it can involve a device or platform compatibility check, a connection problem, or a temporary failure between the app and service. The code does not identify one precise fault by itself.
First, identify which kind of failure you have
| What you observe | Most likely direction |
|---|---|
| Disney+ and several other apps fail | Check the C1’s network, router, DNS or gateway path, internet service, and TV software. |
| Only Disney+ fails while other apps work | Prioritize relaunching, updating, reinstalling Disney+, and checking the account or Disney+ service path. |
| Disney+ works on a phone hotspot but not home Wi-Fi | Investigate the home router, DNS, ISP, Wi-Fi signal, filtering, or other local-network settings. |
| Disney+ fails on both networks but works on another device | The C1’s Disney+ installation or TV software is more suspect. This is a diagnostic inference, not a confirmed diagnosis. |
| The message includes error 73 | Check location, VPN, proxy, and IP-address issues rather than treating the problem as ordinary app corruption. |
| The message includes error 83 | Follow Disney+’s connection, relaunch, restart, and compatibility guidance; the code alone is not a complete diagnosis. |
1. Fully relaunch Disney+
Do not merely leave Disney+ in the foreground and switch to another input. Exit the app, return to the LG home screen, and open Disney+ again. If it was frozen, give the TV a moment to close it before relaunching.

This is the quickest fix for a temporary playback or connection session. If the same message returns, continue rather than repeatedly pressing “try again.”
2. Power-cycle the C1, modem, and router
A normal standby press may leave parts of the TV and network session active. Perform a complete restart:
- Turn off the LG C1.
- Unplug or switch off the modem and router.
- Wait about 60 seconds. If your internet service uses a separate modem and router, keep both off during the wait.
- Turn the modem back on first and wait until it has reconnected.
- Turn on the router and wait for its Wi-Fi or internet indicators to stabilize.
- Turn on the C1, open Disney+, and test playback.
Restarting the modem first gives the router a usable internet connection before the TV tries to reconnect. This procedure is recommended by Disney+ for streaming and error-83 problems and is also useful after an internet interruption.
3. Check another app on the LG C1
Open another streaming app that you normally use. The result changes the troubleshooting path:
- Several apps cannot connect: treat this as a TV or network problem first. Check the C1’s connection, the router, and your internet service.
- Other apps stream normally: the fault is more likely specific to Disney+, its app data, your Disney+ session, or the Disney+ service path.
- Other apps open but buffer or fail intermittently: do not assume Disney+ is at fault. A weak Wi-Fi connection, DNS problem, or unstable ISP route can affect services differently.
4. Check the C1’s network status
On the 2021 C1, the network controls are generally at:
Settings → All Settings → General → Network
The exact labels can vary slightly with the TV’s firmware and whether it is connected by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Check that the TV reports a connection to the home network and an internet connection. If the connection is missing, reconnect to Wi-Fi or check the Ethernet cable and router port.
If the TV connects to Wi-Fi but Disney+ still fails, move to the hotspot test. It provides more information than changing random settings.

5. Test Disney+ using a phone hotspot
Temporarily connect the C1 to a phone’s mobile hotspot and try to play Disney+. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a recommended permanent streaming setup.
- Enable the hotspot on your phone.
- On the C1, open Settings → All Settings → General → Network.
- Select the phone’s hotspot and enter its password.
- Open Disney+ and test the same or another title.
- After testing, reconnect the TV to your normal home network.
Interpret the result carefully:
- It works on the hotspot: the TV and Disney+ app can reach the service. Focus on the home router, DNS, ISP, Wi-Fi interference, parental controls, network filtering, or a gateway problem. If the C1 is far from the router, a wired Ethernet connection can also be a useful diagnostic comparison.
- It fails on both networks while other apps work: the Disney+ installation, account/session, TV firmware, or Disney+ service path becomes more likely.
- It fails on both networks and other apps also fail: investigate the TV’s software or broader TV/network behavior and contact LG if the problem persists.
6. Update the LG C1’s software
LG warns that an app can malfunction when the app has updated but the television firmware has not. On webOS 5.0-and-later LG televisions, check:
Settings → All Settings → Support → Software Update
Install an offered update, allow the TV to restart fully, and test Disney+ again.
Do not assume that a firmware number found for one C1 is universal. LG software is tied to the complete regional model identifier and model suffix. Before performing a manual USB update, verify the full model number shown on the TV and use the corresponding LG support page. A firmware package for a different regional suffix may not be appropriate.

7. Update or reinstall Disney+
If Disney+ is the only failing app, first check whether an update is offered in the LG Content Store. If updating does not help, remove and reinstall the app:
- From the LG home launcher, select Disney+.
- Use the app’s edit or delete control. The precise button and on-screen layout can differ by webOS revision.
- Confirm deletion.
- Open the LG Content Store, search for Disney+, and install it again.
- Sign in and test playback.
Reinstallation replaces the local app installation and can sign you out. Have your Disney+ login details available before deleting the app. This step is especially worthwhile when Disney+ freezes, crashes, fails to load, or works on a hotspot but not after a normal home-network restart.

8. Check the LG region and user agreements if Disney+ is missing
This step matters when Disney+ cannot be found, installed, or updated—not usually when an already-installed app simply stops playing.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Confirm that LG Services Country matches the TV’s actual region and that required LG user agreements have been accepted. App availability varies by country and model. A wrong region setting can prevent an app from appearing in the Content Store or interfere with installation and updates.
This is particularly relevant after a factory reset, a region change, or an alteration to the TV’s account and location settings. If Disney+ is present but only playback fails, return to the network, app, and firmware tests instead of changing the region unnecessarily.
9. Disable a VPN or proxy when the error is location-related
Do not confuse error 73 with the more general error 83 or generic “something went wrong” message. Disney+ associates error 73 with location availability and the use of a VPN, proxy, or IP anonymizer.
If error 73 appears, disable the VPN or proxy at the router or network level, restart Disney+, and test again. A standard LG C1 using a normal home connection in a supported Disney+ region should not require a VPN. Location errors may also occur when an ISP assigns an IP address that is being identified incorrectly, so the ISP or Disney+ may need to help if disabling the VPN changes nothing.
10. Investigate memory or Quick Start+ only when the TV shows broader symptoms
Memory management is a secondary path, not the first explanation for a Disney+-only failure. Consider it when the C1 also shows memory warnings, apps repeatedly restart, menus behave abnormally, or several applications close unexpectedly.
LG’s guidance for applicable models includes deleting unnecessary apps, disabling Quick Start+, and performing a longer power cycle. Removing unused apps can reduce general TV-side instability, while disabling Quick Start+ can ensure the television performs a more complete startup instead of retaining an abnormal session.

11. Factory-reset the C1 only as a final TV-side step
A reset can remove corrupted settings, but it also removes installed apps and account settings. Try the network comparison, TV update, Disney+ reinstall, and power-cycle steps first.
For 2021-and-later LG televisions, the reset option is generally at:

Before confirming, make sure you know your Wi-Fi password, LG account details, and Disney+ credentials. After the reset, complete the TV setup, install available software updates, reinstall Disney+, and test it before restoring every other app and setting. If the TV still fails on a phone hotspot after a clean installation, a TV-side software or hardware issue becomes more plausible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the LG C1 too old for Disney+?
Normally, no. The 2021 LG C1 runs webOS 6.0, and Disney+ supports LG televisions from 2016 onward with webOS 3.0 or later. A current failure is more likely to involve the app, network, account session, firmware, or service path.
What does Disney+ error code 83 mean on an LG C1?
Error 83 is a broad Disney+ playback or access error associated mainly with connection or device/platform compatibility checks. It does not identify one exact cause, so relaunching the app, restarting the network and TV, checking the connection, and reinstalling the app are appropriate first steps.
Why does Disney+ work on my phone but not on my LG C1?
The phone may be using a different network, app version, account session, or device path. Test the C1 on a phone hotspot. If it works there, investigate the home router, DNS, Wi-Fi, ISP, or network filtering. If it fails on both networks while other TV apps work, reinstall Disney+ and update the TV.
Should I factory-reset my LG C1 to fix Disney+?
Only as a last TV-side step. A factory reset deletes installed apps and account settings. Try a complete restart, hotspot comparison, TV software update, and Disney+ reinstall first.
The Bottom Line
The LG C1 should support Disney+. Start with a full app relaunch and power cycle, then compare the C1 on your home network and a phone hotspot. That comparison usually tells you whether to troubleshoot the router and ISP or concentrate on Disney+, the account session, and the TV software. Reinstall the app and update the C1 before considering a factory reset, and contact Disney+ or LG with the exact error code and test results.
