Spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The released film has two separate credits scenes: its mid-credits scene introduces Amy Rose and Metal Sonics, while its post-credits scene indicates Shadow survived. That confirms what viewers can see in the finished movie—not whether a particular pre-release leak was authentic or accurately described.
What happens in Sonic 3’s credits scenes?
Mid-credits: Amy Rose and Metal Sonics
In the mid-credits sequence, Sonic is confronted by Metal Sonic robots. Amy Rose appears and helps him. The scene introduces characters who could matter in the next film, but it does not establish the details of Sonic 4’s story.
Post-credits: Shadow survives
A separate scene after the credits indicates that Shadow survived the final battle of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. This is not the Amy Rose and Metal Sonic reveal; the movie has two distinct credits beats.
Was the pre-release leak real?
The finished film’s scenes can be checked by watching the released movie, but that does not authenticate an earlier image or clip. The available reporting describes the scenes retrospectively and does not establish where the specific alleged leak originated, whether it was genuine, or whether it accurately described the finished sequences. No attributable statement from a named person confirming that leak is available in the cited sources. The careful distinction is that the scenes later appeared in the film—not that the leak has been verified.

What is officially known about Sonic 4?
SEGA announced on January 22, 2025 that Sonic 4 is set for a U.S. theatrical release on March 19, 2027. SEGA repeated the date in a March 10, 2026 announcement about a merchandise agreement. The official announcements cited here do not provide a detailed plot synopsis, so the credits scenes are clues about characters, not confirmation of the sequel’s full story.
There is also a difference between a character appearing in a credits scene and a character’s role in the next film being officially announced. Coverage published in 2026 identifies Kristen Bell as Amy Rose in Sonic 4, but the scene itself does not reveal how the sequel will use her or Metal Sonic.
