It is a showcase clash, not a battle royale according to the official episode summaries.
What happens in “We Need a Hero”?
As the S-Rank Hunters prepare for the Jeju Island raid, they hold a friendly match. Jinwoo intervenes and faces Liu; the official synopsis says he demonstrates his strength in a way that convinces the onlookers. The match gives the episode its headline spectacle while keeping the focus on the raid preparations.
Jinwoo ultimately declines to join the raid so he can support his mother, who has just awakened. That choice puts his family commitment alongside the escalating danger facing the hunters on Jeju.
Is the S-Rank fight really a battle royale?
No. Aniplex describes the event as a friendly match between S-Rank Hunters, and Apple TV’s episode listing uses the same framing. “Battle royale” is not the official synopsis wording. The more accurate description is a showcase match that lets Jinwoo reveal his power in front of the other hunters.

Is episode 22 the same as Season 2 Episode 10?
Yes. Aniplex numbers “We Need a Hero” as episode 22 in the overall series listing, while Apple TV labels it Season 2, Episode 10. Streaming services may use season-specific numbering rather than the series-wide count.
