Was the Crunchyroll release simultaneous with the Japanese TV broadcast?
No. The two schedules used different local times.
- Crunchyroll: 9:30 a.m. PT on January 6, equivalent to 5:30 p.m. UTC and 2:30 a.m. JST on January 7.
- Japanese television: 24:00 on January 6, equivalent to midnight at the start of January 7 in Japan.
That means Crunchyroll’s announced release occurred several hours before the Japanese television broadcast when both times are converted to Japan Standard Time.

Release-time confusion explained
The most important scheduling detail is the Japanese use of times beyond midnight. A listing of 24:00 on January 6 does not mean midnight at the start of January 6. It means the broadcast begins at the end of January 6, which is technically January 7 at 12:00 a.m. JST.
For that reason, claims that the official Japanese premiere took place at 6:00 p.m. JST on January 6 do not match the official broadcaster schedule. The Japanese listings specify 24:00, while Crunchyroll separately announced its own international release time.
