Snoop Dogg carried the Olympic flame through Saint-Denis on July 26, 2024, in the relay’s final stretch before the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony. The documented location was Saint-Denis, north of Paris—not central Paris. His appearance also connected the relay to his role as an NBC and Peacock special correspondent for the Games.
Where and when Snoop Dogg carried the Olympic flame
Snoop carried the flame in Saint-Denis on July 26, the day of the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony. NBC Olympics described his leg as part of the final stretch before the ceremony; Reuters’ caption also places him with the torch in Saint-Denis that day. Saint-Denis is north of Paris and is home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium. NBC Olympics’ report and Reuters’ dated caption identify Saint-Denis as the location.
Saint-Denis mayor Mathieu Hanotin described the relay leg as the “last step before the Eiffel Tower” in remarks quoted by NBC Olympics. That phrase locates the moment in the approach to the ceremony; it does not establish that Snoop carried the flame through central Paris.
Why Snoop Dogg was in Paris
Snoop was in Paris in two related roles: as a torchbearer and as an NBC and Peacock special correspondent. NBC Sports announced his correspondent assignment on January 2, 2024. The planned coverage included attending competitions, speaking with host Mike Tirico, meeting athletes and their families, and exploring landmarks; NBC said his reports would appear in the primetime show. NBC Sports’ announcement describes the assignment.

At an NBC Sports media conference in Paris on July 24, Snoop spoke about the relationship he sees between entertainment and sport, saying, “Just so you know, entertainment and sports go hand for hand.” He also said, “I believe that hip-hop has always been a part of the Olympics.” These were his personal remarks at the conference, not an official explanation of why organizers selected him for the torch relay. The NBC Sports transcript records his comments.
What the torch relay appearance represented
The carry made Snoop part of the relay’s final approach to the Opening Ceremony, while his correspondent role placed him inside NBC’s broader coverage of the Games. The two roles help explain why the appearance drew attention beyond the relay itself: it was both a ceremonial moment and part of a deliberately entertainment-focused broadcast assignment.
