Sling TV’s channel guide still lists NewsNation, but the available evidence does not confirm a current Sling-wide outage or an official Sling acknowledgement. If the channel will not play, first check whether your plan includes News Extra, then determine whether the problem affects one device, Sling generally, or NewsNation’s separate app and website.
What Sling’s listing confirms
Sling’s NewsNation channel page continues to show the channel and identifies access with Essentials + News Extra. The page displayed a price of $25.99 per month when checked for this report; prices and package details can change, so confirm them in your Sling account before subscribing. Sling’s News Extra announcement also lists NewsNation as part of that add-on and gives an announced price of $6 per month. That announcement is not a guarantee of today’s price or eligibility for every plan.
A channel appearing in the guide does not mean it is included in every Sling subscription. If NewsNation is missing or you see a “Subscribe to Watch” prompt, check your active package and add-ons before treating the problem as an outage. A recent plan change, an expired add-on, or signing into a different Sling account can produce the same symptom.

Has Sling acknowledged an outage?
No current NewsNation outage notice or direct Sling acknowledgement is verified in the available sources. Sling’s official pages establish that it lists the channel and documents a way to authenticate with Sling on NewsNation’s own services; they do not confirm a present interruption, its scope, or a restoration time. Reports from individual viewers may describe a real problem, but they do not establish that all Sling customers are affected.

It also matters what “unable to watch” means. A channel missing from the guide, a subscription prompt, a spinning stream, a “Technical Issues” message, or a failed recording can have different causes. NewsNation playing on another device while failing on one television points toward a device or app issue, not a confirmed service-wide outage.
Try NewsNation through Sling credentials
Sling’s TV Everywhere help page lists NewsNation among services that eligible subscribers can access using Sling credentials. To test this alternate delivery path:

- Open NewsNation’s website or its app.
- Choose the provider sign-in option and select Sling TV.
- Enter the email address and password for the Sling account that has NewsNation access.
- Try to start the live stream.
If this works while the Sling channel does not, it gives you a way to watch and suggests the problem may be limited to Sling’s channel playback path or a particular device. It is not a guaranteed workaround: it can fail if your package lacks NewsNation, provider authentication is having trouble, or NewsNation’s own app or stream is affected.

Check the symptom before troubleshooting
- “Subscribe to Watch” or a paywall: Verify that News Extra is active on the account you are using. A listing alone does not grant access.
- NewsNation is absent from the guide: Confirm the account and package, then reload the guide or sign in again. Do not assume the channel has been removed based on one device’s listing.
- The channel appears but will not play: Try another Sling channel, then test NewsNation on another device or through NewsNation’s site/app. This helps separate a channel-feed problem from an account-wide or device-specific one.
- Only one device fails: Focus on that device’s app, software, or sign-in state; a failure limited to Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV/Google TV, a smart TV, mobile, or a browser is not evidence of a universal outage.
- Live TV works but a recording or one program does not: The issue may concern a particular program asset, recording, or guide entry rather than the whole NewsNation feed.
- NewsNation’s app also rejects Sling credentials: Check account entitlement and sign-in details. A provider-authentication failure is different from a channel feed interruption.
Practical troubleshooting steps
Work through these in order; changing plans or repeatedly reinstalling apps is unlikely to fix a feed interruption.

- In your Sling account, confirm the active base plan and News Extra add-on, and make sure you are signed into the intended account.
- Open another Sling channel. If several channels fail, the issue may be broader than NewsNation.
- Force-close the Sling app, reopen it, and sign out and back in if playback still fails.
- Restart the streaming device and check for an available Sling app update.
- Try Sling in a supported browser or on another device. Also test the NewsNation website or app with Sling authentication.
- Temporarily disable a VPN or unusual DNS service if you use one, then retry. These are diagnostic checks, not confirmed fixes for this incident.
- If the issue persists, contact Sling support. Give them the exact error text, time of failure, device model, app version, whether other channels work, and whether NewsNation works through its own service. Ask them to confirm the account’s NewsNation entitlement and whether they know of a feed incident.
If NewsNation fails across multiple devices while other Sling channels work, that pattern is more consistent with a channel-specific delivery problem than a single-device fault—but it still does not establish the cause or whether Sling has acknowledged it. Wait for confirmation rather than changing plans solely on the basis of an error screen.

Sling users reported a NewsNation “Technical Issues” message in a June 2023 Reddit discussion. Some participants said the interruption lasted several days and later reported that the channel returned; others mentioned NewsNation’s standalone app as an alternative. Those are historical, user-submitted accounts, not an official Sling acknowledgement and not evidence that the same problem is happening now.

What remains unconfirmed
The available sources do not establish whether a current playback problem is nationwide, which devices or plans it affects, whether it is a temporary feed interruption, or when service would return. They also do not verify a current Sling statement about an outage. Sling’s continuing channel listing is evidence that NewsNation remains in its guide, not proof that every subscriber can play it at every moment.
