Yes—eligible Sky TV customers in the UK and Ireland can receive discovery+ Entertainment without a separate monthly charge. The benefit is included for as long as the qualifying Sky TV subscription remains active. It is not a universal perk for every Sky customer, and the included plan is the ad-supported Entertainment tier, not an automatic TNT Sports subscription.
Sky currently lists the included discovery+ service at a retail value of £3.99 a month. The offer is available through Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream, subject to the package and customer-status terms shown in your Sky account.
Who qualifies for the included discovery+ plan?
Sky’s current offer is aimed at qualifying Sky TV customers. Its offer page labels the promotion “New Sky Ultimate TV customers only”, while Sky’s help information also describes discovery+ Entertainment as part of certain Sky TV packages on Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream.
That means a Sky Broadband, Sky Mobile or other Sky customer should not assume they qualify. Device ownership is not proof of eligibility either: having a Sky Q box, Glass television or Stream puck does not by itself add discovery+ to an account. Check the exact package, contract and offer displayed in Sky’s discovery+ information or your Sky account.

The entitlement lasts while the qualifying Sky TV subscription remains active. “No extra cost” means there is no separate discovery+ charge on top of that package; it does not freeze the Sky bill or prevent future package-price changes.
What do you actually get?
The included product is discovery+ Entertainment. Discovery+ currently lists this UK plan at £3.99 per month including VAT, although prices and terms can change.
- Ad-supported on-demand discovery+ programmes.
- Live discovery+ channels including Discovery, Animal Planet, Discovery History, Discovery Science, DMAX, Food Network, HGTV, ID, Quest, Quest Red, TLC and Turbo.
- Selected 4K UHD on supported devices and eligible on-demand content.
Advertising remains part of the experience, including ads in on-demand programming and on live channels or streams. The included service is therefore closer to the standard direct Entertainment plan than to an ad-free premium subscription.

Do not treat the Sky discovery+ benefit as a free sports package. TNT Sports is not automatically included in the ordinary discovery+ Entertainment entitlement. From 26 March 2026, TNT Sports moved into the UK HBO Max product structure, and Sky’s newer bundles may include HBO Max Basic with Ads for eligible customers under separate terms. Sky outlines that change in its HBO Max announcement.
If you want TNT Sports, check the current sports or HBO Max option attached to your specific Sky package. Activating discovery+ Entertainment will not, by itself, unlock sports coverage.

How to activate discovery+ through Sky
- Open the discovery+ app on your Sky Q, Sky Glass or Sky Stream device.
- Select the sign-in or activation option.
- Use the Sky ID username and password associated with the qualifying Sky account.
- Complete any account-linking or confirmation steps shown on screen.
- Check the resulting account or plan page says discovery+ Entertainment is included, rather than starting a new paid direct subscription.
Labels can differ by device software and account status, so follow the prompts shown on your screen. If the app displays an upgrade or payment request, re-check your package eligibility and whether the Sky ID is the one tied to the subscription.
Already paying discovery+ separately?
Signing in through Sky does not necessarily cancel a subscription you bought directly. To avoid duplicate billing:

- Find out who bills the existing subscription—discovery+, Sky, Apple, Google, Amazon or another provider.
- Cancel through that original billing provider, following its cancellation terms.
- Allow the paid entitlement to end if Sky’s activation flow requires it.
- Then activate the Sky-linked benefit and retain cancellation or confirmation emails.
- Check the next statement to make sure the old charge has stopped.
Do not assume that removing the app or signing in on a Sky box cancels an Apple, Google, Amazon or direct discovery+ subscription.
Can you watch away from the Sky box?
Sky supports discovery+ through the discovery+ app on compatible hardware, but Sky specifically says discovery+ programmes are not available through Sky Go. Access on a phone, browser, smart TV or other device depends on the current discovery+ device-support and authentication rules. Confirm compatibility in the Sky offer information and discovery+ help pages before relying on a particular device, download feature or simultaneous-stream arrangement.

The nominal value is £3.99 a month—about £47.88 over twelve months at the current listed price. That is a useful saving for a household that already wants Sky TV and regularly watches Discovery, Quest, TLC, Food Network, HGTV or related factual and lifestyle programmes.

It is not, however, a £3.99 reduction in your Sky bill. Nor does it make sense to take a long Sky contract solely to obtain a relatively inexpensive streaming tier. A direct discovery+ subscription may be better if discovery+ is all you need and you do not want Sky hardware or a minimum-term TV package. Conversely, Sky may be worthwhile if you also want its channels, recording or integrated hardware.
discovery+ and HBO Max: the distinction

Common problems
The app asks for payment
Your package may not qualify, the offer may not have linked correctly, or an existing direct subscription may be blocking activation. Confirm the Sky ID and account offer before entering payment details.
It works on Sky but not another device
The Sky-linked entitlement may not support that device or may not have completed account linking. Check current discovery+ compatibility rather than assuming Sky Go access.
You are still being charged by discovery+
Activation does not cancel the previous billing agreement. Cancel with the original provider and verify the following statement.
You expected sport
The included plan is Entertainment. Check the separate TNT Sports or HBO Max terms for sports access.

Bottom line: eligible Sky TV customers can get ad-supported discovery+ Entertainment at no additional monthly charge, worth £3.99 a month at the current listed UK price. Check your exact Sky package before assuming eligibility, do not confuse the benefit with TNT Sports, and cancel any separately billed discovery+ subscription through its original provider before switching.
