What is known about the story—and what is not?
Official material describes a new comedy adventure and confirms the family connections among Felicia, Fergus and Farkle. It does not supply a complete synopsis, so more detailed plot claims should be treated as speculation unless the filmmakers or studio confirm them.
NBCUniversal says the four Shrek films and two Puss in Boots spin-offs have earned nearly $4 billion worldwide combined. That figure refers to those six existing films, not Shrek 5. The announcement gives no Shrek 5-specific budget, runtime, box-office figure or audience metric.
Rank #3
Where can you watch the existing Shrek films?
NBCUniversal said on June 16, 2026 that Peacock “currently offers” Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After. That is a dated catalog statement, not a guarantee of current availability in every region or a promise that Shrek 5 will stream on Peacock. Check Peacock’s catalog for your location before watching.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment announced a November 3, 2026 street date for a remastered 4K Ultra HD release of the original 2001 Shrek, including a Limited Edition Steelbook and digital availability. The announcement describes Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and retrospective bonus content. This is an anniversary edition of the first film, not the fifth movie; check retailer listings for current availability.
The LEGO Group also announced its first Shrek sets in April 2026, including a Shrek set and BrickHeadz. That announcement confirms the products, but not their current inventory.
