Shazam gives you three distinct ways to keep a discovery: save it in Shazam’s own Library, sync it to a My Shazam Tracks playlist in Apple Music or Spotify, or add it to a specific Apple Music playlist. Those destinations are not interchangeable. The current guidance documents these workflows, but does not establish that they all launched in one new release; the practical change is easier access to tools for saving and finding songs.
What Shazam’s save options do
Shazam’s newer interface emphasizes quicker access to Home, Library, Concerts and Search, with recent songs appearing on Home. The U.S. App Store listing also describes version 26.14.1 as adding Shazam access in Messages, FaceTime and other apps where the emoji keyboard is available. These interface details do not mean that library saving itself is a newly introduced feature: Apple’s documentation describes both manual saving and streaming-service synchronization. You can save a song from Shazam Search even if Shazam did not identify it through the microphone. Or, connect a streaming service so identified songs are added to a Shazam-created playlist there. Apple’s documented automatic sync destinations are Apple Music and Spotify; availability depends on your country or region. Apple’s guide to Shazam and music services explains those connections.
Save a searched song to Shazam’s Library
This stores the track in Shazam’s own Library. It does not, by itself, add the song to Apple Music’s broader collection, Spotify’s Liked Songs or a playlist in either service.

On iPhone or iPad
- Open Shazam and tap Search at the bottom.
- Search by lyric, song title or artist, then tap the matching result to open its track page.
- Tap the More button, then tap Add To Library.
On Android
- Open Shazam and tap Search.
- Search by lyric, song title or artist, then select the matching result.
- Tap the More button, then tap Add to your Library.
Apple documents these steps for adding songs on iPhone, iPad or Android. The exact wording can vary by platform.
Automatically add Shazams to Apple Music
On iPhone or iPad, open Shazam, tap Settings on the main screen, turn on Sync your songs to Apple Music, tap Allow and, if prompted, tap Continue. Shazam creates a My Shazam Tracks playlist in Apple Music and can add existing as well as newly identified songs to it. Check the playlist to confirm which tracks arrived; Apple does not describe this as a two-way library transfer.

To put one identified song in a different Apple Music playlist, open its track page and tap Add To Apple Music Playlist next to Open in Apple Music, then select the playlist. Opening a song in Apple Music is not the same action as adding it to a playlist. If adding to a playlist does not work, Apple advises checking that Sync Library is enabled on the device. Apple’s service-connection guide covers these options. An Apple Music subscription is needed for the full listening experience.

- Open Shazam and tap Settings.
- Tap Connect next to Spotify.
- Approve the connection in Spotify and confirm the My Shazam Tracks playlist when prompted.
Apple says newly identified songs can then be added automatically to that Spotify playlist. On Apple devices, Spotify must be installed; Apple’s Shazam settings guide also says Spotify use requires a Spotify subscription. The setup does not establish that Shazam adds each track directly to Spotify’s Liked Songs. Apple’s Shazam settings guide lists the Spotify requirement.

Where the song is saved

Do not assume a playlist sync is a complete migration or that changes made in a streaming service will update Shazam. If you switch services, the documented connection is to the selected service, not a guarantee that every historical Shazam will be transferred perfectly.

If a Shazam does not appear
- Check the destination. Look in Shazam’s Library if you used Add to Library; look in My Shazam Tracks if you enabled service sync.
- Verify the connected account. Make sure Shazam is connected to the Apple Music or Spotify account you intend to use, and that you are signed in to that account in its app.
- Check connectivity. A Shazam made offline can be processed and added after the device reconnects, but a streaming-service playlist cannot update until the device is online. Apple’s guide to discovering music describes offline requests.
- Look for the right recording. Recognition and availability for playback are separate. The exact version may be missing, unavailable in your region, removed, or listed with different metadata; search the service for alternate versions.
- Check service settings and availability. For Apple Music playlist actions, confirm Sync Library is enabled. Services offered by Shazam vary by country or region, and Apple Music playback requires a subscription for the full experience.
- Reconnect if needed. If the account and connection are wrong or stale, disconnect and connect the intended service again, then check the playlist. The documentation does not guarantee duplicate handling or perfect historical syncing across services.
Which setup makes sense?
- Already use Apple Music: Enable Apple Music sync for a My Shazam Tracks playlist, or add individual tracks to a chosen Apple Music playlist.
- Already use Spotify: Connect Spotify if you want Shazams collected in its My Shazam Tracks playlist. Use Spotify’s own save control when you specifically want a song in Liked Songs.
- Use neither service: Save discoveries to Shazam’s Library and open tracks in a service available to you when you want to listen. Shazam supports multiple platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, HomePod, web browsers and Shortcuts, but saving controls can differ; the clearest documented instructions are for iPhone, iPad and Android.
