The episode moves among several unsettling discoveries: Dylan gets a glimpse of life outside Lumon, Milchick gives him a gift, and the characters encounter a floor populated by goats. Those are three of the episode’s conspicuous turns, highlighted in Andy Meek’s recap for BGR. (BGR recap by Andy Meek)
What do Reghabi’s questions mean?
Reghabi’s questions are part of Mark’s reintegration procedure: she is trying to bring his work and personal memory streams together, monitoring his waves as she tests his recall. The available episode transcript records her moving through questions about who she is, Mark’s mother, shame, birth, time, and his first memory. (Episode transcript)

#1 Best Overall
The sequence shifts between concrete identification and questions that are harder to answer with a simple fact. Mark can identify Reghabi and his mother. Asked to name a dam, he says “Hoover,” but cannot say what MDR stands for. When Reghabi asks about his first memory, he repeatedly says he does not remember.
The questions therefore test more than whether Mark can retrieve isolated details: they press at the boundaries between memory, personal identity, and the parts of himself Lumon’s procedure separated. That is a reading of the scene, not a confirmed technical explanation. The transcript captures the questions and Mark’s responses, but the episode’s closing moment does not establish exactly what reintegration has accomplished.

Why does Petey speak at the end?
After Mark cannot produce a first memory, Petey’s voice addresses him: “Hey there, you on the table. I wonder if you’d mind taking a brief survey.” Petey says there are five questions and starts with, “To start out, who are you?” (Episode transcript)
The line recalls the opening experience of a severed employee: waking on a table without knowing who they are. Its timing connects that image to Reghabi’s questions about Mark’s earliest memory and identity. But the scene leaves the connection open. Petey’s voice may evoke the first severance experience as Mark’s memories converge; the episode does not spell out a complete mechanism or confirm what Mark now remembers.

Where Episode 3 sits in Season 2
Season 2 premiered on January 17, 2025, according to Apple TV Press. Its series description centers on Lumon employees whose memories are surgically divided between work and personal life. In “Who Is Alive?”, that premise becomes especially personal: Mark is being asked to join those lives back together, while the episode withholds a definitive answer about whether the process has succeeded.
