Yes—Severance has officially been renewed for season three. Apple announced the renewal on March 21, 2025, immediately after the second-season finale. Production was reported to have begun by late July 2026, but Apple has not announced when the new season will premiere.
Is Severance season 3 officially confirmed?
It is. Apple’s March 21, 2025 announcement stated that Apple TV+’s award-winning series Severance “has been renewed for a third season.” The renewal followed the season-two finale and confirms that the story will continue.

Ben Stiller remains part of the creative team as a director and executive producer, while Dan Erickson is the series creator, writer and executive producer. Adam Scott, who stars as Mark Scout, is also an executive producer.

Production was reported to have begun by July 27, 2026, after a cryptic update from Ben Stiller was amplified by Apple TV. That makes season three an active production rather than merely a renewal in development.

However, a production start is not the same as a confirmed premiere date. Apple has not announced a specific month, quarter or year for the release.
When is Severance season 3 coming out?
There is currently no official season-three release date. Some entertainment coverage has forecast a 2027 arrival, but that remains speculation and should not be treated as an Apple-confirmed schedule.

The show’s previous gap between seasons was lengthy: season two premiered on January 17, 2025, after the first season, and the production was affected by the pandemic and two Hollywood strikes. Those circumstances make outside predictions especially uncertain.

What did Apple say about the renewal?
Apple published statements from the show’s principal creative figures. Stiller joked that he had no memory of making the series and would likewise have his memories of season three erased. Scott asked viewers not to tell his “innie” about the return, while Erickson said he was excited to continue making the show with its cast and crew.

Apple’s announcement listed Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette among the principal cast. Individual season-three casting and story details were not established in the renewal announcement.
What is Severance about?
The drama follows employees at Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. Their “innie” remembers life inside Lumon, while their “outie” remembers life outside it.

Season two deals with the consequences of tampering with that severance barrier. The season-three renewal confirms that those unresolved personal, corporate and identity conflicts will continue, but Apple has not released a full season-three plot synopsis.

The complete first and second seasons are available through Apple TV, subject to regional availability and current subscription terms. You can watch through the Apple TV app on supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, smart TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox devices, as well as on the web.
An Apple TV 4K box is not required. It is an optional dedicated streaming device for viewers who want a living-room setup with features including 4K Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and a Siri Remote. Existing compatible televisions, streaming devices, computers, phones and consoles may be enough to watch the series.
