Sesame Street’s expanded YouTube partnership has arrived, but the most precise public figure is not “hundreds.” In an update published January 15, 2026, YouTube confirmed that more than 100 full episodes from previous seasons were available free on the official Sesame Street channels and the YouTube Kids app. The companies have not published a definitive final episode count.
What the YouTube deal actually promised
YouTube and Sesame Workshop announced the expanded partnership on September 4, 2025, saying that “hundreds of full episodes” would begin arriving in January 2026. The announcement also covered Shorts, compilations, original videos and programming made specifically for YouTube. YouTube’s original announcement and Sesame Workshop’s announcement both described the broader relationship.

The rollout was subsequently confirmed on January 15, 2026. YouTube said that more than 100 complete episodes from previous seasons were then available. That is the verified public number—not a precise total in the hundreds. Neither official announcement reviewed for this article gives a complete catalog, season-by-season inventory or release schedule.
Which Sesame Street episodes are available?
The collection includes episodes from relatively recent seasons as well as notable historical installments. YouTube specifically highlighted:

These are examples, not a complete catalog. The partnership should not be described as bringing the entire Sesame Street archive to YouTube. The original “hundreds” wording described the planned expansion, while the January update confirmed that more than 100 full episodes were live.

YouTube’s organization, playlists and channel addresses can change, so searching the exact episode title together with “Sesame Street official” is generally more reliable than relying on a single old video link.
Check that the uploader is an official Sesame Street account. Search results can otherwise mix complete episodes with clips, Shorts, fan uploads and long compilations.

Is the Sesame Street YouTube library free?
Yes. YouTube describes the announced full episodes as free to stream, and no separate Sesame Street purchase or subscription is required for that access. Free does not necessarily mean ad-free, however. The announcement does not promise an ad-free viewing experience, and playback conditions can vary by market, device and account.
Families that want optional ad-reduction or ad-free YouTube viewing can investigate YouTube Premium, but it is not required to watch the announced Sesame Street episodes. Plan terms and pricing vary by country and can change.
What else is included besides full episodes?
The expanded YouTube offering is broader than a simple archive of complete broadcasts. YouTube says it includes:

- Collections focused on ABCs and 123s, STEM, adventure and imagination, friendship and play, holidays, and animals
This matters when searching for “full episodes.” A result may be a complete episode, a compilation or a short segment, so check the title, runtime and description before assuming it is a full broadcast episode.
Is YouTube the new home for every Sesame Street episode?
No. The YouTube arrangement is a major free digital library, not an announced replacement for every other Sesame Street outlet and not a guarantee that every new episode will premiere there.
Sesame Workshop has separately said that new seasons and library episodes would be available on Netflix worldwide, while new episodes would continue on PBS stations and PBS KIDS digital platforms in the United States. Availability can differ by country, station and platform catalog.

Why Sesame Workshop and YouTube expanded the relationship
YouTube said Sesame Street’s official channels generated more than 5 billion views in the preceding year and reported 130% year-over-year growth. It also said that more than half of the official channel’s watch time took place on connected televisions. These are figures supplied by YouTube; the announcement did not provide independent audience-audit methodology.
The business logic is straightforward: families already watch YouTube on televisions, phones, tablets and computers, while YouTube Kids offers a separate child-focused destination. Sesame Workshop gains another large digital distribution channel without giving up its PBS and Netflix relationships. YouTube, in turn, adds established educational children’s programming with strong recognition among parents.

What to do if an episode is missing
- Open the official Sesame Street channel.
- Check the Sesame Street Classics channel as well as the main channel.
- Search the exact episode title plus “Sesame Street official.”
- Confirm that the uploader is an official Sesame Street account.
- Try YouTube Kids if you are looking for a child-focused set of results.
If an episode still does not appear, it may be unavailable in your country, listed under a different title, organized into a playlist, removed or re-uploaded. Rights agreements can produce different catalogs in different regions. The official materials do not guarantee that every historical episode will be uploaded everywhere.
The practical bottom line
YouTube is now a significant free destination for Sesame Street: more than 100 full episodes from previous seasons are confirmed, alongside classic material, Shorts and themed compilations. But “hundreds” remains the language of the original rollout announcement, not a published final count. For classic episodes and free viewing, YouTube is the obvious place to start; for current programming, a child-focused educational ecosystem or international subscription access, PBS KIDS and Netflix may be more suitable depending on your location and needs.
