How the connection began
Khloé Kardashian’s 2009 message
The earliest point in Us Weekly’s timeline is June 2009, when Khloé Kardashian reportedly tweeted warmly about Gomez, calling her pretty and sweet and saying her younger sisters loved her. That is an early public mention, not evidence that Gomez was already close to the family.

Coachella and the 2014 Jenner connection
In April 2014, Gomez appeared in Coachella photos with Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Us Weekly reports that the sisters were fans of Gomez and that the three began spending time together publicly that year. The same month, Gomez unfollowed both sisters on social media after the festival.
The reason for the apparent rift is not confirmed. Us Weekly attributes to unnamed sources the claim that Gomez felt the Jenner sisters were flirting with Justin Bieber and his circle. Another unnamed source said the issue was later cleared up. These accounts offer reported explanations, not verified statements from Gomez or the Jenners.

Further public appearances in 2014 and 2015
Us Weekly’s timeline records Gomez traveling on a private plane with Kris Jenner after Paris in October 2014 and attending Kendall’s 19th birthday in November. In May 2015, Gomez and Kris were seen speaking and hugging on the Met Gala red carpet. These events show continued public contact; on their own, they do not establish the depth or continuity of a private friendship.
Gomez, Kim Kardashian and the Taylor Swift dispute
Gomez’s 2016 comments
In July 2016, amid the dispute over Kanye West’s song “Famous” and the release of footage of West speaking with Taylor Swift, Gomez publicly criticized the climate of online hate. Us Weekly reproduces her tweet: “There are more important things to talk about. Why can’t people use their voice for something that f—king matters?” The timeline also quotes a second post in which Gomez wrote that “the last thing we need right now is hate, in any form” and criticized the entertainment industry.

Those posts document Gomez’s public response to the broader online climate. They do not, by themselves, establish her private relationship with Kim Kardashian or the rest of the family.
The 2019 SKIMS post
In October 2019, Gomez posted a photo wearing a black SKIMS item, captioned, “Legit So freaking comfortable @skims.” She later deleted it and shared a photo with Swift, writing, “My ride or die I would die for this one,” and, “I’m on your side for life,” according to Us Weekly. The sequence is a record of social-media posts, not proof of a personal relationship with Kim Kardashian or a commercial endorsement.

In February 2023, fans interpreted eyebrow-related social-media posts and a video involving Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber as shade aimed at Gomez. That interpretation was speculation; the timeline does not establish that Jenner or Bieber intended to mock Gomez.
Jenner denied the suggestion in a TikTok response reproduced by Us Weekly: “This is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts!” Gomez replied, “Agreed @kyliejenner it’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!” Their public exchange directly rejects the claim of intentional shade, but it does not settle the nature of their private relationship.

What the January 2024 Golden Globes speculation established
At the January 2024 Golden Globes, fans speculated that Gomez was discussing Jenner and Timothée Chalamet with Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller. Fan interpretations of the conversation—including lip-reading—are not confirmation of what was said. Us Weekly reported that an unnamed source told the publication there was “never any drama” between Gomez and Jenner at the event. That is an attributed, anonymous account, not a direct statement from either woman.
