At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Paramount+ revealed the main title sequence for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Gizmodo described it as a hand-drawn-feeling 2D take on the scribbly visual style associated with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Cinema Sentries credited Emmy-nominated composer Matt Mahaffey with the sequence’s music.
What the title sequence looks and sounds like
James Whitbrook’s July 25, 2024, Gizmodo report describes the opening as a stylish translation of Mutant Mayhem’s scribbly aesthetic into 2D animation. Gizmodo praised its action, effects and alt-teen mood; those are the outlet’s critical impressions, rather than an official description from the production team. The account presents the sequence as a visual bridge between the film and its television continuation, not as a change in the series’ premise.
Cinema Sentries’ July 26 report names Matt Mahaffey as the composer of the title sequence. That credit is reported by Cinema Sentries; the available accounts do not include a direct statement from Mahaffey or another production representative about how the music was made.
Why it recalls Mutant Mayhem
The stylistic connection fits the series’ place in the franchise: Point Grey Pictures calls Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a direct continuation of the 2023 film. The show follows Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo as they try to balance teenage crimefighting with ordinary life in New York City. Its 2D title design carries forward the scribbly look Gizmodo associates with the film while presenting the story as a television series.

Gizmodo’s account adds that the brothers and April navigate high school as the anti-mutant Bishop and giant robots threaten the city. The danger pushes the turtles onto separate paths before they reunite. This plot context comes from Gizmodo’s contemporaneous coverage, while Point Grey’s production page gives the broader series premise.
When the sequence was revealed
Both reports place the reveal at SDCC 2024, but differ by one day on the exact date. Gizmodo, published July 25, says Paramount showed the sequence at the convention and that it debuted online via Collider. Cinema Sentries, published July 26, says it was revealed during the series panel earlier that day. The reports do not resolve whether the discrepancy reflects publication timing or event timing, so “at SDCC 2024” is the clearest date to use.
