Scarlett Johansson has two children: daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac, born in 2014, and son Cosmo, born in August 2021. Rose is Johansson’s daughter with French journalist and former husband Romain Dauriac. Cosmo is her son with comedian and Saturday Night Live performer Colin Jost.
Johansson and her family maintain a notably private life, so the reliable public record about the children is limited to details their parents or representatives have chosen to share.

Public coverage commonly refers to Rose by the surname Dauriac. Reports have said that her middle name, Dorothy, honors Johansson’s grandmother. That explanation should be understood as a detail attributed to contemporary reporting, rather than as a recently confirmed statement from the family.
Johansson has occasionally mentioned small, parent-approved details about her daughter. In a 2024 interview reported by PEOPLE, she said Rose likes that her mother plays Black Widow but is too scared to watch an Avengers movie. The comment offers a glimpse of their family life without establishing broader claims about Rose’s personality or interests.
Cosmo, Johansson’s second child
Johansson and Colin Jost welcomed their son, Cosmo, in August 2021. Jost publicly announced the birth and revealed the baby’s name, while ABC News reported the announcement at the time.

Cosmo is Johansson’s second child and Jost’s first child with Johansson. The couple married in 2020, and coverage of Cosmo’s birth described him as their first child together. A precise public birth date is not necessary to establish the basic timeline, so “born in August 2021” is the most careful description.

Why are the names Rose and Cosmo connected?
Johansson has explained that both children’s first names have a connection to flowers. Rose is a direct floral reference, while cosmos is the name of a flower in the sunflower family. She discussed the connection during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
That is one of the few personal details Johansson has shared about the children. It is a light family anecdote, not evidence that either child has a public role in Johansson’s entertainment or business projects.

What has Johansson said about parenting?
Most publicly available comments are brief and concern Johansson’s own experiences as a parent. In a 2025 interview with Shop TODAY, she mentioned Cosmo while discussing postpartum hair loss after her second pregnancy and her beauty routine, including her brand, The Outset. The interview was about Johansson’s experience and products—not about Cosmo’s private life.
Similarly, the comment about Rose and Avengers concerned a specific family interaction. It should not be expanded into assumptions about the children’s daily lives, schooling, friendships, health, or future interests.
Why is there so little public information about Rose and Cosmo?
Johansson has consistently kept her children out of the public eye. Rose’s birth coverage included a request for privacy, and later reporting has described Johansson as protective of her children’s anonymity. Neither child has an established public career, official social-media presence, or independently documented role in entertainment in the sources available.
As a result, responsible coverage should stop at confirmed information. There is no reliable basis here for claims about the children’s schools, neighborhood, schedules, travel, medical history, appearance, personal relationships, or possible future careers. Their parents’ fame does not make those private details public.
