The 69-minute Peacock episode paired Bargatze’s deliberately dry delivery with a sequel to “Washington’s Dream,” a Spanish-language variety-show spoof, a grim water-park emergency and a profane Lonely Island-style digital short. Coldplay performed “All My Love” and “We Pray,” joined by Tini Stoessel and Elyanna for the latter.

The broadcast opens with a vice-presidential-debate parody, then moves into Bargatze’s monologue and the night’s main sketches.
The sketches, in order
Washington’s Dream 2
Bargatze returns as George Washington in a sequel to his earlier measurement-system satire. This time, Washington tries to justify arbitrary English-language and American conventions: why a dozen has its own name, why “donut” and “doughnut” coexist, why first grade comes after kindergarten, why hamburgers have no ham, and why a cow becomes “beef” while chicken remains “chicken.”
The joke is not a new historical revelation but the accumulation of rules that sound reasonable only until they are explained aloud. Bargatze’s restrained, slow delivery lets each absurdity land without forcing it, making the returning character the episode’s clearest showcase for his comic persona.

Golf Tournament
“Golf Tournament” is one of the episode’s principal character sketches, following the opening debate parody and Bargatze’s monologue.
Sábado Gigante
This Spanish-language variety-show parody puts Bargatze in the audience as a participant who understands only rudimentary Spanish. The humor comes from his increasingly visible confusion inside the show’s fast, exuberant format. The Los Angeles Times described it as a “pitch-perfect ‘Sábado Gigante’ parody.”

Water Park
Bargatze and Michael Longfellow play EMTs facing an unusually logistical emergency: a person has died at a water park, and they try to persuade staff to send the body down a slide instead of carrying it down 255 stairs. The sketch keeps escalating through practical arguments, turning a morbid situation into a deadpan debate about the easiest available route.
Weekend Update
The episode’s regular news-desk segment follows the narrative sketches and provides the central topical-comedy break before the final run of pieces.

Mile High Burger Challenge
This competition-themed sketch is part of the episode’s principal lineup, extending the show’s run of heightened premises after Weekend Update.
Sushi Glory Hole
Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer reunite for the episode’s conspicuous digital short. In the Lonely Island-style premise, sushi is passed through an opening in a bathroom stall. The deliberately tasteless setup and compressed music-video energy make it the night’s most immediately shareable short-form piece.

Coach Alan
“Coach Alan” closes the listed principal sketches, rounding out the episode after the digital short.

“We Pray”
The band also performed “We Pray,” joined by Argentine singer Tini Stoessel and Palestinian singer Elyanna. Their appearance expanded the song beyond a standard solo band performance and was specifically noted by the Los Angeles Times and the Television Academy’s episode ballot.
What makes the episode work
- A precise host fit: Bargatze’s deadpan, unhurried explanations are strongest when a sketch treats nonsense as a serious civic or practical problem.
- A useful return: “Washington’s Dream 2” repeats a proven character while changing the subject from imperial measurements to language and American customs.
- Range beyond the host: “Sábado Gigante,” “Water Park” and “Sushi Glory Hole” give the episode distinct comic engines rather than relying on one recurring idea.
- Integrated music: Coldplay supplied two recognizable performances, with Stoessel and Elyanna adding a collaborative dimension to “We Pray.”
