Sandbox VR launched Squid Game Virtuals on September 29, 2023. It is a location-based, full-body multiplayer VR attraction developed with Netflix—not a downloadable console or PC game. As of August 18, 2026, Sandbox VR still lists it as an active experience, but the games, prices and times available depend on the venue you select.
What is Squid Game Virtuals?
The attraction puts a group inside a tracked physical play area wearing headsets and haptic equipment. Players see one another in the same virtual world, move through locations inspired by Netflix’s Squid Game and compete in several mini-games for scores and rankings. Sandbox VR describes the experience on its official experience page.
Because the system is installed at Sandbox VR venues, you do not need to own a VR headset or gaming PC. The format is designed for friends, families, parties and corporate groups, although its competitive elimination mechanics may not suit everyone.
When did it launch?
The original public launch was September 29, 2023, in a rollout across Sandbox VR locations rather than at one single venue. The launch announcement is historical; it should not be read as an upcoming September 29, 2026 release.

Original challenges
- Red Light, Green Light: a VR version of the series’ stop-and-go contest.
- Cross the Glass Bridge: players navigate the familiar high-risk bridge challenge.
- Additional mini-games: the official description presents the experience as a collection of challenges rather than one fixed story campaign.
The 2025 update: Repeat Racers
In March 2025, Sandbox VR and Netflix added Repeat Racers, a puzzle-and-racing mini-game inspired by Season 2. Players earn points according to finishing position, while players who do not reach the finish line can be eliminated from that game. The announcement does not establish that every venue runs the same lineup, so confirm the current content when booking.
How a visit works
- Open the Sandbox VR booking directory and choose a location.
- Check that venue’s dates, price, available experience and any local restrictions.
- Arrive for check-in, briefing and equipment fitting at the time shown in your confirmation.
- Enter the tracked play space, compete through the available Squid Game-inspired challenges and receive scores or rankings.
Venue procedures can differ, so the location’s confirmation—not a generic advertisement—is the authority for arrival time, session rules and cancellation terms.

There is no verified universal current price. Expect the amount to vary by venue, date, promotion and group size, with taxes or booking fees handled according to local terms. Do not use the $39 starting price sometimes quoted for Netflix’s New York physical attraction as Sandbox VR pricing.
Questions to ask before paying
- What is the current per-person total, including taxes and fees?
- Does the booking guarantee a private session?
- Can a two-person group play alone?
- What age, height and supervision rules apply?
- Is Repeat Racers running at this location?
- What happens if a player feels ill, and what are the refund or rescheduling rules?
Equipment and physical demands
Sandbox VR’s platform combines head-mounted displays, motion capture and tracking, haptic equipment and a shared physical play area. Players may need to stand, walk, turn, crouch and react quickly. Motion sickness, dizziness, claustrophobia or mobility limitations can make the session uncomfortable. Pregnant guests and anyone with relevant medical conditions should follow the venue’s safety guidance.

The surfaced official information does not establish one universal age minimum, height requirement or health policy. Check the selected venue before booking, particularly for children. The elimination theme is a game rule; players are not exposed to real danger.

Netflix Tudum’s October 2024 article described the New York physical attraction as accommodating groups of up to 24 and listed tickets starting at $39 plus fees at that time. That historical figure is not a current Sandbox VR price. Netflix House is a separate concept, not another name for the Sandbox VR product.

Who is it for?
Good reasons to choose it
- You want a social activity that home VR cannot easily reproduce.
- Your group enjoys recognizable Squid Game challenges and score competition.
- You prefer an organized attraction where no one needs to supply hardware.
- You may return to improve scores or try newly added mini-games.
Reasons to choose something else
- There is no participating venue near you, or the local price exceeds your budget.
- You want a conventional home game or a freely explorable story world.
- You dislike elimination, public competition or sharing a session.
- You have severe motion sensitivity or physical restrictions that conflict with free-roaming VR.
- You are traveling specifically for one mini-game without first confirming that it is active.
Bottom line
Squid Game Virtuals is a premium, venue-based group attraction whose appeal is shared physical immersion. It launched on September 29, 2023 and has since gained content such as Repeat Racers, but the only reliable way to establish today’s price, lineup, capacity and policies is to select a specific Sandbox VR location and read its booking terms.
