Samsung officially unveiled the DORAEMON SPECIAL EDITION for Galaxy Z Flip6 on July 12, 2024, as a Hong Kong-only limited-edition bundle. Samsung said just 800 sets were available. It paired a blue Galaxy Z Flip6 with a Doraemon phone stand, Flipsuit Case and themed software; it was not a globally released, re-engineered phone. The launch is historical, so a listing in 2026 should be treated as resale or leftover stock unless a seller can verify otherwise.
What was the Galaxy Z Flip6 Doraemon Edition?
It was an official Samsung collaboration with Doraemon, launched in connection with the “100% DORAEMON & FRIENDS” tour. Samsung’s Hong Kong announcement and dedicated product page confirm that this was a genuine product, not just a third-party case or downloadable wallpaper. The 800-set limit and themed bundle gave it collector appeal, while the underlying device remained a Galaxy Z Flip6.

What came with the set?
- Galaxy Z Flip6 handset, presented in blue to evoke Doraemon.
- Doraemon Special Edition Phone Stand.
- Doraemon Special Edition Flipsuit Case.
- A built-in Doraemon Galaxy Theme experience.
Samsung also listed a Doraemon tote bag as a preorder gift. SamMobile reported additional launch-period preorder benefits: a one-year Samsung Care+ device protection plan and a 65W USB PD charger. Those benefits should not be assumed to accompany every retail or resale unit; ask the seller to show exactly what is included.

What did the Doraemon software theme add?
Samsung described a themed experience spanning the opening animation, dynamic lock screen, home-screen wallpaper, app icons and Samsung Keyboard colors and graphics. Named elements included the “100% Friends-Calling Bell” opening animation and “DORAEMON Treasure Pocket” wallpaper. The blue handset was part of the presentation; Samsung’s written description does not establish that the phone itself had a Doraemon-printed exterior.
There is an unresolved date conflict on Samsung’s product page: one footnote says the automatic theme-download service would be available until July 14, 2024, while another says July 14, 2027. That does not establish whether a secondhand phone can now retrieve all theme assets. Ask the seller to demonstrate the theme on the device rather than relying on a promise that it can be downloaded later. The physical case and stand do not depend on that service.
Where did it launch, and what was the reported price?
Samsung identified the release as exclusive to Hong Kong, with sales through Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung’s online shop and selected authorized retailers. SamMobile’s launch report also named 1010, Broadway, Cathay Shop, China Mobile, CSL, CTM and Fortress as Hong Kong retail channels. These are launch-period channels, not confirmation of present stock elsewhere.

SamMobile reported a Hong Kong launch price of HKD 10,698, approximately US$1,370 at the time. The conversion is historical, not a US retail price, and neither that figure nor a collector-market resale price should be treated as current Samsung pricing.
The original preorder began July 12, 2024. By August 2026, the launch materials establish the past limited release, not current inventory. Samsung’s page remains useful for checking what the edition was, but it does not prove that new units are available now. Do not describe the set as sold out without a source confirming that status.
Was the phone hardware different?
The available Samsung material identifies no Doraemon-specific processor, camera, display, hinge or battery. The edition is best understood as the Galaxy Z Flip6 platform with themed presentation, accessories, packaging and software. Samsung’s standard Z Flip6 information lists a roughly 50-megapixel rear wide camera, a 4,000mAh battery, Galaxy AI, FlexCam, an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and vapor-chamber cooling described as a first for the Z Flip series. What to check before buying one secondhand
A “Doraemon Edition” listing may omit key parts of the original bundle, and an imported phone may not suit your local service or carrier needs. Before paying, work through these checks:

Request current photographs of the handset, stand, Flipsuit Case, original box and any tote bag or preorder gifts claimed in the listing. Do not assume every launch benefit came with every unit.
- Ask for proof of origin. Request the Hong Kong purchase receipt and clear photos of the actual item. Promotional renders alone do not establish that the seller has a complete, authentic set.
- Verify the phone. Ask for its exact model and storage details, then inspect the inner display for dead pixels or damage, the hinge for smooth movement and alignment, the cover screen, USB-C port and signs of unusual battery drain.
- Check software on the device. Have the seller show the Doraemon theme running. Samsung’s conflicting download dates mean that a later download should not be assumed.
- Confirm local support before purchase. Ask Samsung in your country whether the Hong Kong unit qualifies for warranty service, repairs or trade-in, and check carrier compatibility for the specific model. Coverage and compatibility are not established by the limited-edition announcement.
Who is it for?
The edition makes the most sense for a Doraemon collector who values official Samsung provenance and can verify the complete bundle. For someone chiefly seeking a dependable foldable with local warranty, repairs and carrier support, a locally sold Galaxy Z Flip model is a more straightforward choice; the Doraemon edition’s known distinction is its collectible presentation rather than documented hardware changes.
