Samsung’s New York Galaxy Experience Space paired hands-on demos of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and other new Galaxy devices with planned K-pop meet-and-greets, live music and wellness events. The temporary pop-up ran from July 26 to August 20, 2023; it is a historical event, not a current opportunity.
A New York pop-up built around Galaxy Unpacked
The Galaxy Experience Space was at Herald Towers, 50 West 34th Street, Manhattan, New York, NY 10001. Samsung scheduled it to open on July 26, 2023, with an Unpacked viewing party, and remain open through August 20. It was one local activation around Samsung’s July 2023 product launch, not a promise that other Experience Spaces worldwide had the same schedule or programming. Samsung’s event overview described the New York space alongside other global locations.

The Fold5 was not the only device on display. Samsung was promoting the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 foldables, Galaxy Watch6 series and Galaxy Tab S9 series. Visitors were invited to try the hardware and experience Samsung’s connected Galaxy ecosystem. The main Galaxy Unpacked announcement took place in Seoul on July 26, while the New York space gave the launch a public, local setting. Samsung’s Unpacked recap covers the Seoul event.
What the schedule promised
Samsung’s plan went beyond product demonstrations. The New York program included Saturday meet-and-greets with what the announcement called “top K-pop idols,” live performances, community mixers and wellness programming. The original July 17 coverage reported that the idol names had not yet been announced. It also listed a special Eric Nam performance for August 19; that was a separately identified performance, not confirmation of the unnamed idol lineup. The wellness calendar included weekday yoga and meditation sessions from July 31 through August 16, scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Eastern Time, as well as Sunday-evening discussions described as wellness talks or “Mindset Town Hall” events. Because these dates and programs are past, they are useful as a record of the campaign rather than a visitor guide.
What was—and wasn’t—confirmed about meeting idols
The announcement established that meet-and-greets were planned, but the July 17 report did not identify the idols, name a participant for each Saturday or confirm how access worked. The available event details also do not establish whether admission was free, ticketed, reservation-based, capacity-limited or restricted to Galaxy owners. So “meet K-pop stars” described the planned appeal of the activation; it did not mean that every visitor was guaranteed a meeting.

Nor does the event’s Fold5 focus mean a visitor had to own or bring one to enter. The phone was part of the hands-on product experience, not a documented admission requirement.

Why the Fold5 suited the demo space
Samsung positioned the Galaxy Z Fold5 as a large-screen device for multitasking and connected use. Its 7.6-inch main display opened into a tablet-like viewing area, while the 6.2-inch cover display allowed use while folded. Samsung also highlighted a redesigned Flex Hinge, a flatter-folding design, adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz on both displays, and FlexCam experiences for shooting at different angles. That format gave the pop-up an obvious demonstration hook: visitors could see a large screen unfold, try multitasking and explore camera features alongside the rest of the Galaxy lineup. It also made the device a visible part of an event built around entertainment and social participation. The Fold5 was a premium, relatively heavy foldable, however, and its original U.S. starting price was $1,799.99. That is its historical launch price, not a current 2026 price or recommendation.
Launch dates and price context
Samsung began U.S. preorders for the Fold5 on July 26, the same day the New York space opened. General availability followed on August 11, 2023. At launch, the phone started at $1,799.99 and came in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations. Samsung advertised a preorder offer that priced the 512GB model at the 256GB model’s price during the specified preorder period, while supplies lasted. The offer has expired.
The event therefore overlapped with the product’s announcement and preorder window, but its closing date came after the phone had reached general availability. The pop-up ended August 20, 2023. Anyone considering a Fold5 now should check current stock, condition, price, warranty and software-support information with a seller; the launch details above do not establish present-day availability.
