A promotional clip released June 28, 2024 confirmed Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine. The footage pointed to a face-off with Wolverine, bringing back the character Mane played in the 2000 film X-Men—not Liev Schreiber’s later portrayal.
Which Sabretooth appears in the teaser?
The teaser coverage identified Tyler Mane as Sabretooth. Mane played the character in X-Men (2000), the version connected to the Wolverine portrayed by Hugh Jackman in that film. ComingSoon reported on June 28, 2024 that promotional footage shared through Marvel, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds social channels showed Mane’s return (ComingSoon).
That distinction matters because Sabretooth has also been played in live-action by Liev Schreiber. Schreiber portrayed the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine; the teaser did not identify his portrayal as the one returning. Meristation/AS likewise described the footage as confirming Mane’s classic version and distinguished it from Schreiber’s (Meristation/AS).
Why the footage suggests a Wolverine rematch
Coverage described a face-off between Sabretooth and Wolverine. That framing recalls the characters’ earlier film relationship, rather than simply introducing Sabretooth as an unrelated cameo. The teaser confirmation establishes Mane’s portrayal and the reported confrontation; it does not, on its own, explain the scene’s full story context.
