Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero took place on Friday, May 2, 2025, in Times Square, New York. Contemporary listings gave different start times: Sporting News reported 5:30 p.m. ET, while MMA Fighting listed a 6 p.m. ET event start and a 5 p.m. ET DAZN PPV main-card start. Published estimates for the main-event ring walks also differed, so there is no single confirmed walkout time.
What time did the event start?
The published schedule depends on what “start” means. Sporting News reported a 5:30 p.m. ET start for the event. MMA Fighting’s May 2 update said the event kicked off at 6 p.m. ET, while listing the DAZN PPV main card at 5 p.m. ET. These are source-specific schedule labels, not a single agreed start time. | Schedule item | Published time | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| DAZN PPV main card | 5 p.m. ET | MMA Fighting’s May 2, 2025 article |
| Event start | 5:30 p.m. ET | Sporting News’ reported start time |
| Event kick-off | 6 p.m. ET | MMA Fighting’s May 2, 2025 updated article |
When were Garcia and Romero expected to fight?
The anticipated ring-walk time was also an estimate, not a fixed bout start. Sporting News put the main event at about 9 p.m. ET; MMA Fighting estimated Garcia and Romero’s ring walks at around 11 p.m. ET. The difference reflects the contemporaneous schedules, and neither estimate should be treated as an exact start time for the fight.
What was on the full card?
MMA Fighting listed five bouts on the event card:
- Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero
- Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez
- Teofimo Lopez vs. Arnold Barboza
- Reito Tsutsumi vs. Levale Whittington
- Joel Allen vs. James Gennari
Matchroom’s event page independently lists Garcia–Romero, Haney–Ramirez and Lopez–Barboza, identifying WBO World and Ring Magazine super lightweight titles for Lopez–Barboza. Its published page shows only part of the card; the five-bout list above follows MMA Fighting’s complete published listing. Matchroom Boxing event page

Where was it shown, and can you still watch it?
Contemporary coverage identified DAZN as the broadcast platform. A later DAZN catalog search result listed a “Garcia vs. Romero: Full Event Replay” and individual replays of Garcia–Romero, Haney–Ramirez, Lopez–Barboza and Tsutsumi–Whittington. That catalog listing does not establish that the replays remain available now or in every country, so check DAZN in your location for current access. DAZN catalog search
