Start with Roxette Diaries (2016). Its 90-minute portrait uses private and archival footage from 1986–1995, including studio sessions, rehearsals, backstage life and concerts. Once you know the story, choose Live-Ism for the clearest 1991 concert document or Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! for the larger 1995 stadium experience. The announced Roxette – Live in Sydney is a separate 2026 event rather than a replacement for either classic concert film.
The short answer: the best order for most viewers
Use this sequence if you want both context and performances without jumping randomly through Roxette’s career:
- Roxette Diaries (2016) — the personal and archival introduction, covering the period in which the duo became an international act.
- Live-Ism (1991) — the natural first concert film and the clearest snapshot of the Joyride-era stage show.
- Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! (1995) — the follow-up for a bigger, stadium-scale production, recorded in Johannesburg on 14 January 1995.
- Room Service Tour! (2001) — the next stop if you want the later touring period rather than ending in the 1990s.
This order moves from story to peak-era performance, then to the group’s stadium presentation and later concert work. If you only want one concert, pick Live-Ism for a balanced introduction or Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! for spectacle.
What each Roxette film is designed to give you
| Title | Career period | Format and edit | Best for | What is established |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roxette Diaries | 1986–1995 archival period | 90-minute documentary | Story, personalities and behind-the-scenes context | Platform descriptions identify private footage of studio work, rehearsals, backstage scenes and concerts; directed by Jonas Åkerlund. |
| Live-Ism | 1991 | Concert video | A first uninterrupted performance film and the Joyride-era concert period | The official Roxette catalog lists it among the group’s concert videos. |
| Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! | 1995 | Concert film | Stadium scale and the mid-1990s live production | The Johannesburg concert was recorded on 14 January 1995. |
| Room Service Tour! | 2001 | Concert program | Completing a chronological concert run into the new decade | It is one of the four concert programs collected in the Boxette package. |
| Roxette – Live in Sydney | 1991 concert footage, restored for a 2026 release | Announced television cut of about one hour; a longer cinema version is in development | Newly restored material and a current broadcast event | The reported restoration draws on extensive 1991 footage; release plans were announced, not presented as an already available catalog title. |
| Roxette Live: Travelling The World | 2011–2012 comeback | Documentary-and-concert combination | A later-career alternative to the 1980s and 1990s films | Warner Music Sweden reported 1.5 million attendees across 46 countries for that tour in 2013. |
The table separates films that explain Roxette from programs intended primarily to show a concert. A documentary can contain performance excerpts without functioning as a complete concert, while a concert video may offer little biography between songs.

Why Roxette Diaries should usually come first
Roxette Diaries is the most efficient orientation because it places the music in the duo’s working life. The footage range, 1986–1995, spans the rise from early recording activity through the period represented by the major 1991 and 1995 concert films. You see the environments around the songs—studios, rehearsals, backstage spaces and shows—rather than receiving only a sequence of stage numbers.
That perspective changes how the concert films read. In Live-Ism, the scale and polish of a 1991 performance make more sense after seeing the preparation and travel behind it. Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! then feels like a later production phase instead of an isolated 1995 artifact. The documentary is directed by Jonas Åkerlund, a useful credit for viewers who want to know who shaped the archival narrative.
Choose a different starting point only when your priority is explicit:
- Only the music: start with Live-Ism and postpone the documentary.
- The largest 1990s show: start with Crash!Boom!Bang!Live!.
- A current broadcast event: watch the documentary first, then follow the announced 2026 Sydney pairing when it is available in your territory.
- A complete physical set: use Boxette’s four-program sequence rather than treating one film as definitive.
Choosing your first concert: Live-Ism or Crash!Boom!Bang!Live!
Pick Live-Ism for the 1991 peak-era snapshot
Live-Ism is the stronger default when someone asks for a single Roxette concert film. It follows Roxette Diaries chronologically, represents the Joyride-era concert period and is identified in the official catalog as a Roxette concert video. That combination makes it an accessible bridge between the documentary’s context and a full performance program.

Its appeal is coherence rather than novelty: you are watching one defined touring period, not a retrospective assembled from unrelated years. Viewers who want to understand what Roxette’s live identity looked like at the point represented by their early-1990s success should begin here.
Pick Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! for stadium scale
Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! is the choice when production size and mid-1990s atmosphere matter more than chronological introduction. The Johannesburg performance was recorded on 14 January 1995, placing it firmly in the stadium-era phase that followed the 1991 period.
It works especially well after Live-Ism, because the contrast is part of the value: the earlier film establishes the 1991 touring identity, while the Johannesburg recording shows how the presentation had developed by 1995. Starting with it is still reasonable if you already know the songs and want a large-scale show rather than background.
A practical decision rule
- Choose Live-Ism if this is your first Roxette concert film.
- Choose Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! if you have already seen the documentary or care most about a 1995 stadium setting.
- Watch both in that order if you want the clearest visual progression from 1991 to 1995.

- Sweden Live ’88 / Look Sharp Live ’89 — the earliest programs in the set’s chronology.
- Live-Ism (1991) — the Joyride-era stop.
- Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! (1995) — the Johannesburg stadium recording.
- Room Service Tour! (2001) — the later touring chapter.
Boxette packages these four programs across four DVDs, making it the broadest single physical collection for this 1988–2001 sequence. It is a collection of concert programs, not a claim that every Roxette performance or every documentary is included. If you are buying one physical package for chronological coverage, its value is breadth across years rather than a longer version of one individual film.
Where the 2026 Sydney film fits
Roxette – Live in Sydney is being presented as newly restored material from 1991, so it belongs near Live-Ism in career chronology even though its release is later. Reports describe approximately 85 hours of film spread across about 100 reels as the raw material for the restoration.
The reported broadcast plan is a television cut of about one hour, with a longer cinema version in development. Those are different edits: the television version should be treated as a concise program, while the cinema project may provide more of the concert if that version is completed and released. Do not assume that the shorter broadcast and the potential theatrical cut contain the same song selection or running time.
SVT Play has been reported to pair Roxette – Live in Sydney with Per och Marie – historien om Roxette on 19 November 2026. That date is an announced schedule, not a guarantee of access everywhere. Check SVT Play on or near the date for territory restrictions, the exact cut, subtitles and whether the program remains on demand afterward.

How the comeback film changes the viewing plan
Roxette Live: Travelling The World is the route for viewers more interested in the 2011–2012 comeback than in the classic 1988–1995 period. It combines documentary material with concert footage, so it occupies a middle ground: more contextual than a straight concert video, but focused on a later touring chapter than Roxette Diaries.
Warner Music Sweden reported that the comeback tour reached 1.5 million people across 46 countries. That figure describes the tour’s reported attendance, not the runtime, audience capacity or attendance at any one filmed show. Use the film to explore that later phase; do not substitute its tour scale for a claim about the size of an individual concert recording.
Viewing paths for different kinds of fans
If you know nothing about Roxette
- Watch Roxette Diaries to establish the people, working process and 1986–1995 timeline.
- Continue with Live-Ism for a focused 1991 concert.
- Add Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! when you want the 1995 stadium contrast.
If you want the fastest route to a live show
- Start with Live-Ism.

If you prefer strict chronology
- Begin with Sweden Live ’88 / Look Sharp Live ’89.
- Move to Live-Ism (1991).
- Watch Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! (1995).
- Finish with Room Service Tour! (2001).
If you want the current-event experience
- Watch Roxette Diaries first for a foundation.
- On 19 November 2026, look for the reported SVT Play pairing of Per och Marie – historien om Roxette and Roxette – Live in Sydney.
- Compare the newly restored Sydney material with Live-Ism only after confirming which Sydney edit is being shown.
If you are focused on the comeback
- Watch Roxette Diaries for earlier history.
- Then choose Roxette Live: Travelling The World for the 2011–2012 touring period.
Availability, editions and what to verify before watching
Availability is the least stable part of this guide. The information currently establishes the titles and announced programming, but not a universal streaming service, retail inventory or price for every country. A listing visible in one territory may be absent in another, and physical stock can change without notice.
- Streaming territory: confirm that the service carries the title in your country rather than relying on a search result from another region.
- Subtitles: check the specific edition or player menu; subtitle availability has not been established uniformly for these films.
- Runtime: distinguish the 90-minute documentary from concert programs and from the announced approximately one-hour Sydney television cut.
- Edition identity: verify whether a listing is a complete concert program, a television edit, a trailer or a compilation.
- Physical purchases: for Boxette, confirm the four-disc contents and the playback format supported by your equipment before ordering.
- Future Sydney release: treat the cinema version as in development until an official release announcement gives a date, venue scope and final runtime.
These checks matter because “Roxette live” can describe materially different products: a single concert, a television edit, a documentary with performance excerpts or a multi-disc collection.

Common mistakes in planning a Roxette marathon
Starting with a documentary when you want a concert
Roxette Diaries is the best context-first choice, but it is not a substitute for an uninterrupted concert program. If your evening is specifically for live performance, begin with Live-Ism and use the documentary later.
Treating the newest release as the chronological next film
The Sydney project is a 2026 restoration assembled from 1991 footage. Its release date is new; its performance period is not. Place it beside the 1991 material when building a timeline.
Assuming two concert films represent the same production
Live-Ism and Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! document different periods, and the latter is specifically tied to a Johannesburg recording from 14 January 1995. Compare them as separate touring chapters rather than interchangeable cuts of one show.
Reading tour attendance as a film specification
The 1.5-million figure belongs to the reported 2011–2012 comeback tour. It does not tell you how many people appear in a filmed venue, how long the film runs or how many performances were edited together.
A simple decision tree
- Do you want personal history before songs? Choose Roxette Diaries.
- Do you want one classic concert with the least setup? Choose Live-Ism.
- Do you want a 1995 stadium document? Choose Crash!Boom!Bang!Live!.
- Do you want every listed concert period from 1988 through 2001 in one package? Choose the Boxette four-DVD sequence.
- Do you want the later comeback? Choose Roxette Live: Travelling The World.
- Do you want newly restored 1991 footage as a 2026 event? Check the announced SVT Play presentation of Roxette – Live in Sydney, then verify territory and final edit.
Recommended final order
For most viewers, the most satisfying progression is Roxette Diaries → Live-Ism → Crash!Boom!Bang!Live! → Room Service Tour!. It gives you the documentary foundation, the 1991 concert period, the 1995 stadium chapter and the 2001 touring period without confusing release date with performance date. Add the Sydney film when its 2026 version and access conditions are confirmed, and use Roxette Live: Travelling The World when you want to continue into the comeback years.
