Rogers announced on May 15, 2025 that Rogers Xfinity TV was adding more than 150 international channels in over 20 languages. The expansion covered international news, sports and entertainment, and brought Rogers’ advertised total to more than 480 channels. However, the launch’s Free Preview ended on June 17, 2025. International channels and theme packs remain advertised by Rogers, but current availability, pricing and lineups must be verified before subscribing.
What Rogers announced
Rogers said the Rogers Xfinity TV platform would add more than 150 international channels across over 20 languages. The company described the programming as a mix of live news, sports and entertainment for multilingual Canadian households and viewers interested in international content.
The announcement also promoted more than 480 total channels on the platform. That figure needs context: Rogers’ comparison includes both conventional linear television channels and free ad-supported streaming television channels. It does not mean that every channel is included in the least expensive TV plan, available in every market or included without an additional charge.
Rogers also described the service as offering what it called the most content of any Canadian television provider. That is a Rogers claim based on its stated channel-count methodology, rather than an independently verified industry ranking.

Were the international channels free?
Only temporarily. Rogers offered the new international programming through a Free Preview that ended June 17, 2025. It was not presented as a permanent free tier.
After the preview, customers were expected to subscribe to applicable individual channels, international packages or theme packs. Those are separate from any channels already included in a customer’s regular Rogers Xfinity TV plan.

As of August 18, 2026, Rogers’ current TV page still advertises international channels and theme packs in more than 20 languages, including international news, sports and entertainment. The accessible page does not confirm that the exact 150-plus launch count remains unchanged, nor does it publish a complete current international lineup and price list.
Before ordering, check the current Rogers channel guide or ask Rogers to confirm:

- whether the channel is sold individually or only through a theme pack;
- whether it is included in your existing TV plan;
- the regular monthly price and promotional expiry date;
- whether Rogers Internet, specific equipment or a bundle is required; and
- how to downgrade or cancel the add-on.
Rogers promotes savings when TV is bundled with Rogers Internet, but the actual total depends on the customer’s address, services, equipment and offer terms. Its current page also advertises cloud PVR capacity of up to 200 hours for up to a year, subject to plan and product terms.

Who benefits most?
The expansion is most relevant to households that speak a non-official language or want regular access to programming from outside Canada. It may be useful for:
- families seeking foreign-language news;
- immigrant and diaspora communities;
- viewers looking for international sports;
- parents wanting children’s programming in another language; and
- households that prefer several live channels in one TV guide rather than multiple separate services.
Availability of a channel does not guarantee that it carries every program, league or event a viewer expects. Sports rights, regional restrictions and blackouts can still apply.

How to judge the value
Do not compare providers solely by their headline channel totals. Start with the specific channels your household watches, then compare:
- live programming versus on-demand content;
- international news and sports rights;
- audio, subtitle and caption support;
- HD or 4K availability;
- the monthly add-on or theme-pack price;
- equipment, installation, taxes and other charges;
- the price after any promotion expires; and
- contract, cancellation and downgrade terms.
A viewer who wants one occasional program or mainly watches on-demand movies and series may find a single-language streaming service more flexible. Free ad-supported platforms can also reduce the need for a large paid bundle, although they generally do not reproduce a broad live international-TV lineup. Other Canadian cable and IPTV providers may be better for a particular language or sports package, so the relevant comparison is the exact channel list—not the provider’s total count.

Rogers’ Q2 2025 management discussion document said the company launched over 150 international channels and 27 free channels on Rogers Xfinity TV. The filing supports the broader expansion but does not provide a detailed channel-by-channel list.

Rogers commissioned a March 2025 survey through the Angus Reid Forum that it said involved 1,546 Canadian respondents in a specified multilingual-household sample. Any statistic from that survey should not be generalized to all Canadians.
Bottom line
Rogers Xfinity TV’s more-than-150-channel international expansion was a real May 15, 2025 announcement, but the associated Free Preview ended June 17, 2025. The current opportunity is paid international channels and theme packs, potentially bundled with Rogers Internet. Verify the exact lineup, address-level availability and post-promotion price before signing up; the original 150-plus and 480-plus figures should not be treated as a guaranteed current package count.
