Rogers announced on May 7, 2025, that Rogers Xfinity TV customers would receive 27 additional channels at no extra cost. The launch included seven channels described as Rogers Xfinity exclusives, although the public announcement named only four: Flay All Day, Home & Design TV, True Crime, and MotorTrend.
This was an expansion of the Rogers Xfinity entertainment experience—not the launch of a free standalone television service. Eligibility, channel availability, advertising, device support, and package rules may differ today from the original announcement.
What changed?
Rogers integrated 27 free channels into the Rogers Xfinity TV experience on May 7, 2025. The company said existing eligible Rogers Xfinity TV customers could watch the added channels at no additional cost.

The offer is best understood as free or no-extra-charge content within an existing Rogers Xfinity TV service. It does not mean that Rogers Xfinity TV itself is free, nor does it mean every Rogers customer automatically receives the same lineup.

Rogers’ Xfinity platform combines live television, on-demand programming, and streaming-app discovery in one interface. Comcast describes the underlying Entertainment OS experience as a way to bring live, on-demand, sports, news, entertainment, and streaming services together. Which channels were confirmed?
Rogers said seven channels were exclusive to Rogers Xfinity customers, but its public announcement specifically highlighted only four:

The remaining 23 channels were not itemized in the cited launch announcement. It would therefore be misleading to present these four as the complete 27-channel lineup. For the current list, customers should use the in-product free-channel listing or Rogers’ current Xfinity information and eligibility pages.

Are the channels really free?
According to Rogers, the 27 channels were available to Rogers Xfinity TV customers at no additional cost. In practical terms, that means customers did not need to add a separate channel package for the announced offering.
There are several important limits to the word “free”:
- You generally need eligible Rogers Xfinity TV access; this is not necessarily free television for anyone with an internet connection.
- The underlying TV or internet bundle, equipment, taxes, promotional changes, and premium add-ons can still carry charges.
- Free ad-supported channels may include commercials. The announcement does not establish an identical advertising model for every channel.
- A program or channel shown in the interface may still require a paid package or separate subscription if it belongs to a premium service.
- Availability can vary by account, region, platform, and current programming rights.
For those reasons, the announcement improves the value of an eligible existing subscription, but it should not be read as a promise of unlimited commercial-free programming.

How to find the free channels
Rogers’ launch instruction was straightforward:
- Turn on the Rogers Xfinity TV service or compatible Xfinity interface.
- Press the voice-control button on the Rogers Xfinity voice remote.
- Say “free channels.”
- Browse the resulting collection and select a channel or program.
That was the official discovery method at launch. Because the interface may have changed since 2025, the exact voice command or menu placement may not be identical today.

If voice search does not work
- Try the TV home screen, search page, or a section labelled free, ad-supported, or streaming channels.
- Check that the voice remote is paired and that the correct Rogers account is signed in.
- Restart the TV box or app and try the command again.
- If a channel opens a subscription prompt, it may be a paid service, unavailable for the account or region, or a similarly named premium offering.
- Use Rogers’ current channel guide or contact support if the in-product listing conflicts with the original announcement.
Can customers watch them away from home?
Rogers said the seven exclusive channels could be watched at home or on the go. That statement should not be expanded into a guarantee that all 27 channels work on every phone, tablet, web browser, television, or third-party streaming device.
Mobile and remote viewing can depend on the current Rogers Xfinity app, device compatibility, account authentication, location rules, and programming rights. Before relying on the channels while travelling, verify that the specific channel appears in the supported app and works with the eligible account.

Do not confuse the 27 channels with Rogers’ international-channel promotion
Rogers made a separate announcement on May 15, 2025, about more than 150 international channels in more than 20 languages. That promotion included a Free Preview through June 17, 2025, which has expired.
The two announcements should be kept separate:
- May 7, 2025: 27 new free channels, including seven described as Rogers Xfinity exclusives.
- May 15, 2025: more than 150 international channels and a temporary preview offer.
Rogers later reported more than 480 total channels when counting linear television and free ad-supported streaming television channels together. That is a company-defined total, not a promise that every customer receives 480 conventional cable channels in one package. The international expansion is described in Rogers’ announcement.

For an existing Rogers Xfinity TV customer, the answer may be yes—particularly if the household watches cooking, home, true-crime, or automotive programming and does not mind advertising. Receiving additional content without a separate channel charge is a useful benefit.

It is less significant for viewers whose priorities are live sports, premium movies, major news networks, or specific specialty channels. The four named channels do not replace paid sports or premium packages, and the availability of the other 23 channels must be confirmed in the current lineup.
When comparing Rogers Xfinity with another provider or a collection of standalone streaming services, compare the full cost rather than the headline channel count:
- monthly TV or bundle price after promotions expire;
- equipment and additional-room charges;
- taxes and installation costs;
- included paid channels versus free ad-supported channels;
- app, mobile, and away-from-home support;
- contract, cancellation, and promotional terms; and
- whether the household actually watches the included programming.
Rogers’ launch announcement did not establish current 2026 pricing or guarantee that the original lineup remains unchanged. Customers should check the current Rogers Xfinity pages and channel guide before changing a plan.

Bottom line
The 27-channel expansion was a genuine May 2025 addition to the Rogers Xfinity TV experience, offered to eligible customers at no extra channel cost. It is most valuable as a low-friction bonus for people who already subscribe to Rogers Xfinity TV—not as a reason to assume that Rogers TV is free, that every customer has identical access, or that the May 2025 lineup is a complete guide to availability in 2026.
